Dawn N. Sanchez is the Educational Program Coordinator for TRIO at Plymouth State University, a higher-education instructor and advisor supporting first-generation, low-income, and students with learning disabilities. She teaches and mentors students while partnering closely with accessibility services (SRIO) to ensure equitable support. Dawn focuses on helping students acclimate to college life, achieve academic success, and grow socially, championing neurodiversity—self-identifying as “neuro-spicy”—and encouraging students to see their differences as strengths. Her holistic approach prioritizes not only academic development but also social support and advocacy for basic needs such as food and housing, creating a foundation for long-term student success.

In addition to her work in higher education, Dawn is a master public speaker, accomplished speechwriter, and motivational thought leader. She has traveled extensively, sharing words of hope and inspiration across the globe, and hosts a successful podcast featured on iHeartRadio. Her impactful delivery and authentic style have earned her wide recognition, including a commencement speech that went viral and an invitation to speak at Yale University.

Dawn also serves as CEO of LEGACY and a longtime radio personality, combining her expertise in communication with leadership experience to mentor, motivate, and empower others. Over her career, she has delivered speeches and workshops to diverse audiences, inspired change on college campuses, and provided consulting to organizations seeking to improve morale and engagement. With a Master’s in Organizational Leadership and a magna cum laude Bachelor’s in Communication from Plymouth State University, Dawn blends strategic insight, emotional intelligence, and a passion for service to make a lasting impact on the individuals and communities she serves.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the qualities I was fortunate to inherit and nurture from an early age. My mother often says I was born this way, and she would attest that I’ve always had a certain drive and determination. Throughout my life, I’ve consistently been the person who rises to challenges, takes initiative, and strives to see things through, no matter the obstacles.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Give yourself some grace." Accept that careers shift, setbacks happen, and resilience comes with time and self-compassion.
