About Debbie
Deborah Rich-Walker is a highly accomplished finance and business process leader with more than 25 years of experience in financial operations, digital transformation, and procure-to-pay processes. She currently serves as Senior Manager of Finance and Business Process Owner for AP Direct Spend at The Home Depot, where she applies her expertise in financial management, process improvement, and technology-driven transformation to enhance operational efficiency and support strategic business objectives. Her career reflects a strong commitment to innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement within the finance industry.
Rich-Walker earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Hofstra University in 1981 on a basketball scholarship and later completed an Executive MBA at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in 2010. In 2025, she further expanded her executive expertise by completing Columbia University’s CFO Program. Her professional achievements include receiving the Procure to Pay Leader of the Year award in 2018, along with two additional honors recognizing her contributions to the financial industry.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rich-Walker is committed to mentorship, leadership, and community engagement. She has mentored MBA students at Emory University and has supported diversity and inclusion initiatives focused on associates with disabilities. She attributes her success to her faith in God and believes strongly in investing in oneself, leading courageously, listening to others, and fostering inclusive environments. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith in God, which provides me with strength, guidance, and purpose in both my personal and professional life. My faith has helped me remain grounded, persevere through challenges, and approach every opportunity with gratitude, confidence, and a commitment to doing my best.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is not to be afraid to invest in myself. Continuously developing my skills, expanding my knowledge, and pursuing opportunities for personal and professional growth have been essential to my success. I believe that investing in myself builds confidence, opens doors to new possibilities, and enables me to reach my full potential.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to always believe in themselves and their abilities, lead with courage, and remain open to learning from others. I also encourage them to recognize the value of listening, embracing diverse perspectives, and fostering an inclusive environment. By combining confidence with humility, empathy, and a willingness to collaborate, they can build meaningful careers and make a lasting impact.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity in my field right now is leveraging emerging technologies, particularly agentic AI, to enhance efficiency, innovation, and decision-making. As these technologies continue to evolve, they have the potential to transform how we approach complex challenges, streamline processes, and create new opportunities for growth and impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity and patience. I believe integrity builds trust and guides me to do what is right, while patience helps me navigate challenges, listen thoughtfully, and approach situations with understanding and composure.
