Her Interview
Ten minutes with Denise
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute to my faith. Because that day at age when I was laying on my bed... I just decided that day, through my faith... Kathy's kind of been my angel through my life... I need to be a leader.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
People don't care how much you know till they know how much you care. And so, what I did in my classroom was I created a culture of community from day one.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them that they need to tap into what they say to themselves, that that's where their true power is... be empowered by their own self-talk.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are just not the support that, financially, that schools need... public education is kind of endangered... The biggest opportunity is we know so much more... our brains are very malleable. We can change anything.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I believe in the golden rule. I believe that the solution for world peace begins with how we treat one another every single day. Treat others the way you wish to be treated.
