Destini Willmon is a manufacturing supply chain professional with more than a decade of experience spanning procurement, buyer/planner coordination, inventory planning, logistics, and manufacturing operations. Based in Corpus Christi, Texas, she currently serves as a Manufacturing Coordinator/Buyer/Planner at Horton Pedestrian Access Solutions, where she supports multi-plant manufacturing operations through procurement, material planning, vendor coordination, and production alignment. Her expertise includes Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP), along with purchase order management, supplier performance, outside processing logistics, and inventory optimization.
Destini's career reflects a steady progression from customer service and logistics into increasingly complex manufacturing and supply chain responsibilities. She has managed end-to-end procurement activities, coordinated material flow across manufacturing plants and external vendors, supported new product introductions, and worked closely with engineering, production, logistics, and suppliers. Her work has contributed to measurable operational improvements, including cost savings and avoidance, freight reductions, shorter manufacturing lead times, and improved on-time delivery. She approaches manufacturing procurement as more than simply purchasing materials, emphasizing proactive planning, communication, supplier relationships, and problem-solving to keep production moving.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, perseverance, and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities. Mentorship, strong relationships, and the support of colleagues have also been instrumental in my growth. I believe in learning something new every day, understanding others’ roles and processes, and embracing opportunities that challenge me to grow.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to learn something new every day. I’ve applied this by embracing hands-on learning, taking on challenges outside my comfort zone, and understanding other people’s roles and processes. This mindset has helped me build stronger relationships, collaborate effectively, and continue growing professionally.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering my industry to get involved, get their hands dirty, and embrace hands-on learning. Be persistent, speak up, share your ideas, and don’t be afraid to take on responsibility. There are many opportunities for women to grow into leadership roles when they are willing to contribute, learn, and step outside their comfort zones.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My field is experiencing major changes in global supply chains due to outsourcing, tariffs, political developments, and shifting manufacturing locations. While these changes create uncertainty, they also present opportunities to adapt, strengthen strategic purchasing, and use technology and AI to stay organized and make informed decisions. I believe professionals who can adapt to evolving supply chains and embrace new technology will be well positioned for the future.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are humility, honesty, kindness, accountability, ownership, hard work, continuous learning, and respect for others. I believe in taking responsibility for my work, being accountable for my actions, and treating everyone’s role with equal respect. Staying humble, understanding different perspectives, and continually learning guide me both personally and professionally.
