Doris Iheagwam

Doris Iheagwam is a dedicated social work professional with extensive experience supporting children and families. Based in Brooklyn, New York, she has worked in the social work field since 2003, developing a career centered on providing compassionate, ethical, and empathetic services to individuals and families. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brooklyn College, where an introductory social work course sparked her interest in the profession, and later pursued a master’s degree in social work at New York University.

Throughout her career, Doris has held several roles focused on case management, family services, and school-based social work. Her experience includes serving as a School Social Worker with the Department of Education, Family Worker at Brooklyn Kindergarten Society, Case Manager at SKIP of New York, Therapist with the Jewish Child Care Association, and Case Manager at Homes for the Homeless. Her work has involved managing caseloads, conducting home visits, coordinating services, maintaining case records, counseling families, and connecting children and families with educational, mental health, housing, and other community resources.

Doris is recognized for her caring approach, strong sense of responsibility, and commitment to helping families navigate challenging circumstances. She has also contributed to social services through volunteer and internship experiences with organizations including the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services and The Educational Alliance. A member of the National Association of Social Workers, Doris continues to build on her experience in social services and is open to opportunities as a Family Worker, Social Worker, Career Services Advisor, or Case Manager in Brooklyn and New York.
