Dr. Brenda B. Myers
She is an entrepreneur, nonprofit founder, insurance professional, and entrepreneurship advocate with experience in business ownership, student training, scholarships, insurance services, and legal administration. She is the CEO and founder of Entrepreneurs Academy101.org, a nonprofit created to provide scholarships and training for aspiring entrepreneurs. She also serves as president of Entrepreneurs Academy 101 and owns Journey Insurance Solutions, where she provides life, health, and accident insurance services across Mississippi. Her background includes legal assistant experience with Butler Snow LLP, along with education in criminal justice, entrepreneurship, and small business operations.
What do you attribute your success to?
“My success comes from faith, resilience, consistency, and a willingness to keep going even when things get difficult. I’ve learned to turn challenges into opportunities and stay committed to my purpose of helping others grow.”
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
“The best career advice I’ve ever received was to never let fear stop me from pursuing my purpose. Opportunities come and go, but believing in yourself, staying consistent, and being willing to learn and grow can open doors you never imagined.”
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
“My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe in your voice, trust your vision, and never be afraid to take up space. Stay authentic, keep learning, build strong relationships, and don’t let fear or rejection stop you from pursuing your goals. Your purpose and passion can create opportunities not only for yourself, but for others coming behind you.”
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
“One of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurship and business leadership right now is helping people move past fear, uncertainty, and lack of access to resources. Many aspiring entrepreneurs have great ideas, but they need guidance, education, mentorship, and confidence to successfully launch and sustain their businesses in an ever-changing economy.”
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
“The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, integrity, leadership, service, resilience, and empowering others. I believe in leading with purpose, staying authentic, helping others grow, and creating a legacy that positively impacts my community and future generations.”
