Her Story
About Dr Nana
I have been working in marketing for over 25 years, and my career has been very solidified in that space. Recently, I have taken on several exciting new roles that reflect both my professional expertise and my commitment to humanitarian work. I was added to the board for American Marketing Association DC, which allows me to contribute to the marketing community at a leadership level. I also joined the board for Queen Mothers in Action Africa, where I serve as a Queen Mother - a role that is deeply meaningful to me and represents my dedication to humanitarian causes. Additionally, I was appointed to the redistricting council in my local area. I have intentionally created a more holistic personal brand that blends my professional and personal passions, particularly through my nonprofit work. I am comfortable with this integration because it allows me to donate my time and expertise to causes I am truly passionate about. As a marketing professional, I focus on understanding which tools and systems make the most sense to invest time and attention in, especially given the rapidly evolving landscape of our industry.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think that AI is certainly a disruptor, and it is the billion dollar topic right now. The challenge is really focusing on the tools that make the most sense and truly working to maximize those, while also having an integrated mindset. The single source concept in terms of how we work is just gone. We have evolved into needing to understand and navigate more complex systems and environments in order to produce the best results. As a marketing professional, this means knowing which tools to invest time and attention in, considering we have a finite amount of resources in both. AI is really fast moving, and I am grateful to have been an early adopter - I have been on AI for years now, before it was even talked about in open circles. But it changes so much every single day and requires a renewed interest and energy every day. You cannot rest on any laurels when it comes to AI. This is a challenge for emerging professionals and also for veterans who need to stay on top of continuous learning. I may have my terminal degree and have no desire to go back and sit in a university, but I will take as many workshops and seminars as I need to maintain a current understanding of the tools that are important for me to know and master in my work. It requires a continuous learning mindset, and if you do not love learning, that is something to sharpen. We are being inundated with learning in personal and professional ways, so we have got to carve out time for it and build communities of people who are talking about it. I see AI as a lifestyle disruptor, not just what you do at work. I think we are still at such an early exploration phase that it is important to continue leaning in, so I see this more as an opportunity than just a challenge.
