Her Story

About Dr. Princess

Dr. Princess Millens, EdS, PhD is a grief strategist, resilience educator, author, speaker, and educational consultant dedicated to helping women, leaders, and high-capacity individuals navigate the emotional weight of grief, burnout, and life transitions. Her professional journey began in education, where she taught mathematics to middle and high school students for nearly two decades. After leaving the classroom in 2022 due to health concerns and personal challenges, she transitioned into a purpose-driven career focused on supporting others through seasons of grief and transformation. Drawing from her own experiences with loss and resilience, Dr. Millens developed a passion for creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported while learning how to move forward with hope.

Through her organization, Blessed and Beautiful International, Dr. Millens provides coaching, consulting, leadership development, and speaking engagements centered on grief-informed leadership and emotional wellness. She is the creator of the Whole-Soul EQ™ framework and the concept of the Leadership Grief Gap™, which addresses the hidden emotional burdens leaders often carry while continuing to perform publicly. She is the author of Joy Comes in the Morning, a 28-day devotional for women experiencing grief, and The Cost of Carrying Everything, a guide that explores grief, resilience, and the journey toward living and leading from a whole-soul perspective. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree in education, an Education Specialist (EdS) degree in curriculum and instruction, a PhD in Christian Counseling, and certification as a grief coach.

Beyond her professional work, Dr. Millens is committed to creating lasting impact through community service and advocacy. She founded Anthony's Army, a nonprofit established in memory of her son Anthony, a U.S. Army veteran, to spread encouragement, joy, and support to military veterans and their families. She also hosts the annual Mother’s Shine event, a pre-Mother’s Day brunch that provides comfort and connection for women who have experienced the loss of a mother or child. Guided by faith, integrity, and compassion, Dr. Millens continues to empower others to process grief, rebuild emotional capacity, and embrace hope while creating a meaningful legacy of healing and resilience.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Dr. Princess

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success first and foremost to my faith in God, which has carried me through life’s most challenging seasons and given me the strength to continue growing. My experiences with loss, grief, and rebuilding have deepened my compassion and shaped my purpose. I no longer measure success by titles or recognition, but by the impact I make—helping others feel seen, find hope, and move forward through their own journeys.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to take the time to develop their voice, purpose, and expertise before focusing on building a platform or influence. Continue learning, understand the value of your work, and do not feel pressured to copy others’ paths to success. Your experiences, values, and perspectives are what make your contributions meaningful. Most importantly, protect your emotional and mental well-being while pursuing your goals. Ambition is important, but success should never come at the cost of losing yourself.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is that many people continue to lead, work, and care for others while carrying unresolved grief and emotional burdens. Grief is often misunderstood as only being connected to death, when it can also come from the loss of relationships, careers, health, and unmet expectations. When grief goes unaddressed, it can impact decision-making, relationships, leadership, and overall well-being. However, this also creates an opportunity to expand conversations around emotional wellness and create spaces where people can embrace their humanity without feeling the need to hide their struggles. We have the opportunity to redefine strength by helping people learn how to grieve, heal, and continue leading with resilience.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most in my work and personal life are faith, integrity, and compassion. My faith is the foundation of who I am and influences the decisions I make. Integrity means ensuring that my personal life, professional work, and the messages I share are aligned—I want to live by the values I encourage others to embrace. Compassion is equally important because we never fully know what someone else is carrying. I strive to create spaces where people feel seen, respected, and safe. To me, true influence is not measured by recognition or the number of people who know my name, but by the positive impact I make and how people feel after experiencing my presence.
