About Elena
Elena Sheehan is a former logistics professional who has transformed her personal challenges into a powerful journey of advocacy, creativity, and empowerment. She built a successful career in transportation and logistics with Penske Truck Leasing, where she held multiple roles including Operations Supervisor, dispatch, safety, and HR responsibilities. With experience in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Elena developed strong leadership skills centered on trust, respect, relationship-building, and perseverance. She also pursued her education at Northeastern Illinois University and continued developing her skills through additional training while navigating significant health challenges.
After facing life-changing medical obstacles, including multiple kidney transplants and a leg amputation, Elena chose to redirect her path toward inspiring others. She now embraces her roles as a model, author, and ambassador, using her story to advocate for women and individuals with disabilities. Elena represents Women in Peace, a platform dedicated to empowering women of diverse backgrounds, and has advanced in the CoverGirl competition, showcasing her confidence, resilience, and commitment to redefining beauty and strength. She is also working on her upcoming book, Unbroken Frame, which reflects her journey and determination to overcome adversity.
Beyond her professional achievements, Elena is passionate about gardening, traveling, reading, writing, and spending meaningful time with her family. She is dedicated to encouraging others to pursue their dreams while promoting inclusion, accessibility, and self-confidence. Through her advocacy work, creative pursuits, and personal example, Elena continues to demonstrate that challenges can become opportunities for growth, purpose, and positive impact. Her mission is to inspire amputees, women, and anyone facing obstacles to believe in their potential and create a fulfilling life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to my husband, who continually encourages me to grow and strive for excellence. He recognizes my potential, challenges me to become better, and provides unwavering support throughout my journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to stay true to their values and principles. Build respect, trust, and loyalty through your actions, and surround yourself with a strong team that shares your vision. Always keep the bigger picture in mind, stand firm in your beliefs, and confidently demonstrate your capabilities.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My focus is on creating meaningful opportunities by advocating for people with disabilities and empowering women to achieve their goals. I strive to provide others with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to pursue their dreams while building a fulfilling and sustainable future. Ultimately, my goal is to continue growing my name, making a positive impact, helping others succeed, and maintaining a life rooted in purpose and happiness.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are family, resilience, trust, and respect. My family’s support has been a source of strength, especially through challenging moments such as my amputation. Those experiences have helped me build my own confidence, determination, and inner strength. In my professional life, I believe in creating a workplace built on trust, mutual respect, and support, where everyone feels valued and empowered.
