Her Story

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth Thomson is a Life and Success Mindset Coach and author who developed the Love and Light Method, an approach that combines psychology and philosophy to guide individuals in overcoming personal challenges and achieving a positive, purpose-driven life. She earned an associate's degree in psychology and became a certified life coach after attending life coaching school through Jay Shetty in 2020, during which she also authored her book, It Wasn't Supposed to Be Easy: The Journey to Living Life of Passion and Purpose, published in October. Thomson continues her education in forensic psychology and maintains a structured professional practice that includes motivational content creation, client coaching, and ongoing work on her second book. She contributes to her community through pro bono coaching sessions and efforts to speak at the Fish Shelter while supporting mental health programs for medical patients. Thomson attributes her success to her enduring belief in God, a compassionate heart cultivated from childhood, and the boundaries she has learned to maintain while helping others.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Elizabeth

01What do you attribute your success to?

I heavily believe in God, and I'm not necessarily religious, but I like to believe that I was never meant to be given an easy road, but I attribute who I am to even little me always had a good heart, even when things should have ripped me apart. I've always been someone that's cared. I think the one thing I had to learn was not to give my whole heart all the time, like, you can love without emptying your cup or letting somebody take advantage of you.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever got was simple: never give up. Because even when you feel like you’ve lost, you haven’t; you’ve learned. And sometimes, that lesson is exactly what moves you forward.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

What advice would I give a young female entrepreneur? Never let someone else tell you what you’re capable of. Believe in yourself. You’re not in a race with anyone else, your journey is yours. You are stronger than you realize, and you’re capable of reaching farther than you can imagine. First, believe in yourself. Then believe the possibilities are limitless.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

“The biggest challenge in my field is the misconception that a life coach is there to fix you. We’re not.

A great coach holds up the mirror and asks the questions that matter, the ones you may be afraid to ask yourself. We stand beside you, motivate you, challenge you, and lift you up; but we also hold you accountable to doing the work.

Because a coach doesn’t create your success for you. We help you recognize that you’re capable of creating it yourself.

We want you to succeed. We want you to live fully. And most importantly, we want you to love the life you’re creating.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Love is probably my greatest value, love for life, love for people, and love for who we’re becoming. I value authenticity because I believe you have to be willing to stand in your truth. I value resilience because life isn’t always going to be easy, but we always have a choice in how we move through it. And I value purpose, growth, and kindness because I want to leave people and places a little better than I found them. At the end of the day, I want to live with intention, lead with love, and bring a little light wherever I go.
