Her Story
About Elizabeth
Liz Hafer is an accomplished graphic designer, entrepreneur, and community leader with more than 25 years of experience helping businesses and nonprofit organizations elevate their brands through thoughtful, customized design. As the owner and creative force behind EB Designs LLC, she specializes in branding, print, web, and social media design, partnering primarily with small businesses and nonprofits to create meaningful visual identities that reflect their unique missions. Known for her collaborative approach and commitment to personalized service, Liz believes effective design is driven by strategy, relationships, and real-world results rather than one-size-fits-all solutions. Liz began freelancing in 2001 while attending Pennsylvania College of Art & Design before building a successful career in the printing and graphic design industries, including leadership roles at Reading Eagle Press and Suzy Rae Design. In 2016, she dedicated herself full-time to EB Designs, combining decades of creative expertise with a passion for helping local organizations thrive. Beyond her business, Liz has served as Chairwoman of Berks Women in Motion Networking Group since 2019, expanding its programming to include networking opportunities, educational events, and community outreach initiatives that foster meaningful connections among women professionals throughout Berks County. Service has always been central to Liz's work. She is a founding member and Chief Marketing Officer of Help A Girl Out USA, an initiative dedicated to combating period poverty by generating awareness and providing essential products to menstruators across Berks and Schuylkill Counties. Liz also remains actively involved with The Children's Home of Reading, contributing her marketing expertise and volunteer efforts to support children and families facing difficult circumstances. Whether she is building a brand, mentoring fellow entrepreneurs, or strengthening her community through service, Liz is guided by the belief that lasting success is measured by the positive impact made in the lives of others.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Elizabeth
01What do you attribute your success to?
My upbringing and family roots. My love for the arts came primarily from my dad, as well as my uncle who were in the commercial printing industry most of their lives. I cherish that I had both of them to teach me real-world insights that you simply don't get from a classroom college education. As far as my focus on giving back whenever I can, my mom and grandmother instilled values of community involvement and generosity from a young age.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received came from my aunt, who is also a small business owner. As I transitioned from freelancing to running my own business full-time, she encouraged me to trust my abilities, stay true to my values, take time for yourself (not just the business), and focus on building lasting relationships with clients. Her guidance continues to help me navigate my small business journey.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get out there and network because a lot of business comes from networking connections, referrals, and word of mouth rather than Google or social media. Valuable recommendations come from personal experience, not searches.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is keeping up with the rapid pace of technology, especially the rise of AI in the design realm. While these tools create new opportunities, I believe there will always be value in custom, relationship-driven design that reflects a client's unique vision. The key is embracing innovation while continuing to deliver creativity, strategy, and a personal touch that technology can't replace.
