Emily Grip

Emily Grip is a Master of International Affairs candidate at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where she specializes in International Security Policy and Diplomacy. With a strong commitment to bridging global understanding and advancing equitable governance, Emily brings a multifaceted background that blends policy analysis, strategic communications, and humanitarian advocacy. As a fellow with NYC Emergency Management’s EOC Unit, she supports interagency coordination, readiness, and response initiatives designed to strengthen New York City’s emergency management infrastructure.

Prior to her graduate studies, Emily gained valuable experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors. At Sidley Austin LLP, she spent four years honing her expertise in strategic operations and stakeholder engagement, and later expanded her impact as a fundraising consultant with NGK Global, supporting NGOs dedicated to social development and global health. Most recently, she interned at Obsidian in Washington, D.C., where she contributed to international affairs and geopolitical risk projects—supporting embassy relations, public affairs initiatives, and cross-border business strategies within a rapidly changing global landscape.

Deeply passionate about human rights and gender equity, Emily’s current research focuses on developing policy solutions to end child marriage both domestically and internationally. Beyond her academic and advocacy pursuits, she finds joy in travel, surfing, visiting art galleries, and volunteering—activities that reflect her curiosity about the world and her drive to make a meaningful difference within it.
