I was pressured to compromise my values to close a sale, but I chose honesty instead and closed the deal anyway. No title or pressure is worth sacrificing who you are.

Her Interview
Ten minutes with Emily
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the diverse experiences I’ve gained throughout my career in the tech industry, from my early role at CT Integrations and internship at Baker Hughes to my experience at Gartner working with CIOs and IT strategy. Today, as a Sales Executive at OpenText, I continue to grow by selling software solutions through strategic partners, while navigating and succeeding in a male-dominated industry.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received has come from the mentors who have supported me throughout my career in tech sales, especially Jamie Coppers, Linda Jacobs, and Paula Morton. Their guidance has helped me navigate the industry, build confidence, and continue growing professionally. I also value opportunities to give back through my church and organizations in the DFW area.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the industry to never give up, believe in themselves, and stay confident even when working in a male-dominated field. Your determination, resilience, and willingness to learn can help you overcome challenges and create your own path to success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see the biggest opportunity as continuing to grow in my current role while preparing myself to take on the next challenge in my career. I’m focused on expanding my skills, embracing new opportunities, and continuing to advance in the tech industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are family, perseverance, and staying true to my story. Being the first in my family to earn a business degree and pursue a career in tech sales, I’m grateful for the lessons, connections, and inspiration I gained from my father and our family business. My experiences at Sam Houston State University, Avaya, and CT Integrations shaped who I am professionally and personally. Outside of work, I value spending time with my family, dancing, flying an RV-9 with my pilot husband, and enjoying life with my two dachshunds.
