Emily Miller is the Founder and Visionary Leader of Creative Quo, a branding and marketing agency based in Millersburg, Ohio. With over a decade of experience in graphic design, branding, and marketing, she has built her company around helping small businesses create clear, purposeful, and effective marketing strategies. What began as a graphic design and photography service has evolved into a full-service agency offering branding, digital marketing, web design, SEO, and strategic marketing support tailored to small and growing businesses.

Emily’s career is rooted in hands-on entrepreneurship and early exposure to family-run businesses, where she developed a strong appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity. Before launching her own company, she worked in roles including graphic design and healthcare, eventually returning to design through wedding stationery and local business outreach. Through consistent cold calling and client development, she grew her early client base enough to transition into full-time entrepreneurship within months, laying the foundation for Creative Quo.

Today, she leads a team of eight women, overseeing sales, strategy, and company vision while guiding organizational growth and structure. Her leadership approach emphasizes clarity, efficiency, and alignment with client values, alongside a strong focus on branding as the foundation of effective marketing. Outside of her business work, she is active in her local business community and remains focused on building systems that support both sustainable company growth and meaningful client impact.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong support network, including my husband’s encouragement, the entrepreneurial example set by my parents, and the guidance of people who have helped me navigate organizational and operational details along the way.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received was from my husband, who encouraged me to pursue graphic design and start my own business—essentially telling me to “go for it” and trust myself to take the leap.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to go in with their eyes wide open, as the work is more challenging than it may seem. It is important to surround yourself with people who genuinely support you, encourage you, and can help with both guidance and the practical aspects of building and sustaining an organization. I am where I am today not because I did it alone, but because I had others who supported me, helped me structure my work, and made it possible to grow in a sustainable way.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities in my field right now include new partnerships, such as a local chamber collaboration, and upcoming product initiatives that could help grow businesses and positively impact people’s lives. The main challenge is hiring the right team—finding people who truly align with and believe in the mission of Creative Quo, which is essential but not always easy.
