Her Story

About Eseosa

My career began in real estate, where I rose from administrative manager to director of operations in just a few years. Despite the success, something in my spirit wasn't right - my family comes from a very philanthropic background, and I've always had a love for public-facing work and making a real impact. One day at Grand Central Station on my way to work, I experienced the worst panic attack of my life. I quit on the spot, went home, regrouped, and founded Iconiq Creative Group. We're a brand, marketing, and data company serving women in the impact space - venture capital leaders, nonprofit executives, and impact-driven founders. The majority of my day is spent on business development and project management. I work to ensure our operations are in order, manage our marketing and branding, and support our internal team of consultants, who are majority women. I spend time building their confidence because they do incredible work. On the project management side, I sit down with clients to draw out their stories and uncover what part of their personality shows up in their work. We drill down into who they are, why they're doing this business, why they're in this space, and what part of their story will draw people to them. Then my team creates assets, develops strategy, and builds funnels based on that authentic foundation.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say that no business is cookie cutter. You have to lead with authenticity in everything that you do - from your client intake calls, to your networking, to how you're putting out content. Authenticity is you. You have to drill down into what aspects and what elements of me are attractive to me, number one. For example, I am a talker, and I used to be so ashamed of being such a talker, but I found out that really helps with my clients, because they don't want to talk. So what part of you draws you to other people, and how can you channel that into your business? That's how you create an authentic business. You don't create an authentic business by following cookie-cutter, templated models. Ask yourself, what do I want to build here? How do I want to impact? And how do I want to channel my personality into that? The world needs so much variety. There is a customer for everyone, and I truly, honestly believe that. Secondly, don't ignore that you have a niche. Everyone wants to go broad, everyone wants to say I want to do this, this, this, this, this, but your niche is right in front of you looking at you, and you can't see that. So draw out your niche. Be positive, try to make sure that you're paying attention to what's happening in your life, because that's where you'll find your niche.
