About Fenjie
Fenjie Tamajong serves as co-founder of the SERF Foundation, known formally as the Safe Empowerment Reform Foundation, which she established alongside three other women in June 2024. Drawing from her own experiences and those of her co-founders, including hardships such as homelessness and challenges accessing education, the organization provides support to internally displaced persons, especially children, by offering school access, provisions, and scholarships. Tamajong maintains her role as a nurse, a position she has held since receiving her nursing degree in 2019, while dedicating full effort to the foundation. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a specialization in marketing management, awarded in 2017, and has completed professional training focused on NGO establishment, operations, registration, grant acquisition, and financial transparency. The foundation operates across three African countries, with headquarters in Nigeria, as well as in the United States and Canada. Among her notable achievements, Tamajong was interviewed by Equinox TV in February regarding the foundation's work with IDP children. She attributes her success to God, hard work, and consistency, and emphasizes values of prayer, respect, service, ambition, and humility in both her professional and personal life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say God and hard work, consistency. Especially when you're working hard as well.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received was actually from my mom and my dad. Was one to be financially free and fair. And the second one is what my dad told me that always stuck in my head, that my life is a living prayer. So in everything I do, I try to be considerate, and to serve and be humble.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them to one be consistent, to have a mission, to have a goal and follow through, to never give up, to take failure as a learning process and get back up and keep going, to be consistent, to keep God first. And to remember they're always a servant.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
For us it was raising funds and we are registered in 3 African countries and here in America and Canada. So one of the challenges we faced was registering our organizations in Nigeria and Cameroon. Nigeria is our headquarters but it was a challenge trying to register because of the government and it’s politics.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In my professional and personal life, prayer, respect, serving, hard work, ambition, and being consistent in what I do.
