Her Interview

Ten minutes with Gerardine

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my professional success to the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Magda Dermeitt, my internship supervisor and mentor. Her wisdom, encouragement, and leadership have shaped my approach to mental health counseling and inspired me to pursue excellence in every aspect of my career.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To young women entering the mental health and counseling industry, my advice is: “If this is what you desire, give yourself that opportunity. Don’t let anyone deter you.” I believe that confidence, perseverance, and self-belief are essential for achieving meaningful success, and I encourage aspiring professionals to embrace their goals unapologetically.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value both my personal and professional life, balancing a rewarding career with quality time spent with my family. I have a 7-year-old son, and we enjoy spending time together at the park. Outside of work and family, I love to dance, finding joy and expression in movement as a way to recharge and maintain my well-being.
