About Gina
Gina De La Guardia serves as the Founder and Consultant of Lumia Strategy, an AI, data, and growth consultancy based in Nashville, Tennessee, which she launched approximately two years ago. The firm works with creative founders and women-led small businesses, helping them integrate data-driven strategies and AI tools to unlock new opportunities, strengthen operations, and accelerate sustainable growth. With more than a decade of experience in technology, De La Guardia began her career as a software engineer in corporate healthcare after earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Rice University. She later transitioned into product management and data-focused product leadership within the biotech sector, where she led user experience initiatives and data platforms while earning a master’s degree in business analytics from Georgia Tech.
Throughout her career, De La Guardia has developed expertise at the intersection of product strategy, artificial intelligence, data analytics, user experience, and business growth. Her previous leadership experience includes roles with GE Healthcare, Freenome, and Natera, where she contributed to AI-driven healthcare solutions, cloud platforms, business intelligence tools, and data products. At Lumia Strategy, she applies this multidisciplinary background to serve as a fractional product and growth partner, helping founders define product vision, improve customer experiences, and translate complex data into actionable strategies and measurable business results. Her ability to connect technology with business objectives has positioned her as a strategic leader in fast-evolving, innovation-focused environments.
Beyond her consulting work, De La Guardia is passionate about advancing women in technology, entrepreneurship, and STEM. She founded the Tech Barbie brand to encourage women to be bold and fearless in technology and AI and established (HER) Parlour, a women's networking community that brings founders, entrepreneurs, and creatives together through events and educational programming. She also has a longstanding commitment to mentorship, supporting women in computer science and engineering through organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers and Rice University’s women in computer science community. De La Guardia attributes her success to the resilience and fearlessness instilled by her grandmother, who taught her the importance of getting back up after setbacks. She carries those lessons into her professional and personal life, where fearlessness, authenticity, and honesty remain central to how she leads, builds relationships, and pursues meaningful opportunities.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Gina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the resilience and confidence instilled in me by my grandmother, who always encouraged me to be bold, fearless, and willing to take risks. She taught me that success is not defined by how many times you fall, but by how quickly you get back up and continue moving forward. Her wisdom has shaped my mindset and given me the perseverance to overcome challenges, learn from setbacks, and remain determined in both business and life.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to never dim their own light or allow others to undermine their confidence and potential. If you encounter an environment or individual that makes you feel as though you need to shrink yourself, have the courage to create your own path and seek opportunities where your talents, ideas, and leadership can truly shine. Believe in your abilities, advocate for yourself, and never be afraid to pursue the space you deserve.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Fearlessness, authenticity, and honesty are the values that guide me in both my professional and personal life. I believe in having the courage to face challenges, staying true to who I am, and approaching every situation with integrity and transparency. These principles shape how I build relationships, make decisions, and navigate opportunities, allowing me to lead with confidence while remaining genuine and accountable.
