About Glenda
Glenda Hernandez is a Spanish Language AI Training Expert currently working with Amazon Web Services (AWS)-Ascendion and Mercor, where she specializes in data annotation, transcription review, and linguistic quality assurance for AI systems. With more than 10 years of experience in Spanish language processing and AI training data development, she supports the improvement of machine learning models by ensuring accuracy, fluency, and cultural and grammatical consistency in Spanish-language datasets. Her work directly contributes to enhancing the performance and reliability of AI-driven language technologies. Throughout her career, Glenda has built a strong foundation in both healthcare interpretation and technology-driven language services. She began her professional journey in 2001 as a medical interpreter in hospitals and emergency room settings in New Orleans, also supporting immigration-related services. She later transitioned into medical billing and coding before joining iMerit in 2017, where she became one of the founding members of its New Orleans center. There, she advanced into project management and played a key role in developing medical AI initiatives, including large-scale healthcare applications and annotation projects. Today, Glenda combines her linguistic expertise, analytical skills, and project management experience to support advanced AI development initiatives. She is highly skilled in data annotation, QA evaluation, workflow optimization, and Spanish-language localization for AI systems. Passionate about responsible AI advancement, she focuses on improving dataset quality and enabling more accurate multilingual model performance, particularly in Spanish-language applications used across global industries.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to lead by example, continue pursuing certifications to strengthen my skills, and remain open to trying new things in order to grow professionally and adapt to new opportunities.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to keep pushing forward, stay focused on your dreams and goals, and not let obstacles or setbacks stand in your way. Confidence, persistence, and resilience will carry you far in building a successful career.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is expanding access to Spanish education and finding more effective ways to help individuals learn and strengthen their language skills. This growing demand creates a meaningful opportunity to support more learners and make education more accessible and impactful.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are kindness and respect toward others, being a good listener, and a commitment to teaching and supporting others. I also value making a positive difference in the lives of those I interact with, both personally and professionally.
