Her Story

About Haley

I've been working in product marketing for over 10 years, and for the past four and a half years, I've been with Interplay Learning, an education technology company that specializes in simulation-based training for skilled trades roles. What we do is build simulation-based preventive maintenance training for HVAC teams, in-house facilities teams at hospitals, and industrial maintenance teams in manufacturing plants. I own specific markets from a go-to-market perspective, including our commercial and industrial markets. I develop all of our messaging, build out our brand presence, and really develop the go-to-market strategy for all of our industries within those larger market buckets. I grew up in a family of tradesmen - my father is in commercial HVAC, my two brothers work with him, and now my nephew is going through an apprenticeship program, so it's really interesting seeing this from the other side of what they do. One of my proudest achievements just happened yesterday when we launched our entry into the data center space. With AI booming and new data centers being built around the country, there's a huge shortage of qualified data center technicians. We built out an entire roadmap with over 260 courses within our newly launched data center catalog, and we're targeting hyperscalers, co-location providers, and various contractors in the space. It was a massive launch with a lot of press pickup, and it was very exciting for us.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is don't be scared to ask tough questions. I think so many people are hesitant to ask questions or speak up if they don't understand, and I think it's so important to lean on the people around you to give you more of that context that you're looking for.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think they should always value partnership in the work that they do. I think, obviously, being independent is super important, but I think the partnerships that you build are just as important and will help guide you in your career.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Product marketing is a really interesting job because you sit at the intersection of so many different parts of an organization. I personally think in order for you to be successful in your role, you need to build trust with the people that you're working with. If people don't trust you, or your work, or your work ethic, I don't think you'll be successful. And so, relationship building, above all is one of the most important things that I emphasize in my career.
