Her Interview
Ten minutes with Hannah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to the unwavering support of my family, particularly my husband and parents. My husband has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my career, including when we made the decision to move to San Diego in 2018 to pursue new opportunities. Having people who believe in me, especially during moments when I may question myself, has made an incredible difference.
At the same time, I believe success comes from remaining resilient, embracing change, and never becoming too comfortable with what you already know. My career hasn't always followed a perfectly linear path, but every experience, challenge, and unexpected opportunity has taught me something valuable. I've learned that growth often happens when you're willing to step outside your comfort zone, trust your abilities, and continue showing up for yourself.
Ultimately, I credit my success to a combination of the people who have supported me, my own determination to keep growing, and a genuine passion for the work I do.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to pursue something you're genuinely passionate about. Over time, I've learned that loving what you do doesn't mean every day will be easy or that your career won't come with challenges. It means finding something meaningful enough that you're willing to work through those challenges, continue learning, and push yourself to grow.
I've also come to realize that passion alone isn't enough. You have to pair it with curiosity, adaptability, and the willingness to evolve as your industry changes. Some of the most valuable lessons in my career have come from experiences that challenged me to think differently or develop skills outside my comfort zone.
To me, a fulfilling career isn't necessarily about finding the perfect job. It's about finding work that aligns with your strengths, challenges you to become better, and allows you to make a meaningful impact along the way.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the social media industry is to stay curious, build meaningful professional relationships, and never stop learning. Social media is constantly evolving, and the most successful professionals are those who are willing to evolve with it.
One of the biggest lessons I've learned throughout my career is that creativity and strategy are equally important. When I first started working in social media, I was primarily focused on the creative side: developing content, telling stories, and coming up with exciting ideas. While that passion is still a huge part of what I love about this industry, I've learned that understanding the numbers behind the content is just as valuable.
My advice is to get excited about analytics. Learn how to interpret performance data, identify patterns, test new approaches, and continuously optimize your strategies. Understand not only what content performs well, but why it performs well and how that success contributes to larger business objectives. Being able to connect creativity to measurable results is what can elevate you from a content creator to a strategic leader.
I would also encourage young women to advocate for their ideas, ask questions, seek mentorship, and never underestimate the value of their perspective. Build relationships early, remain open to feedback, and don't be afraid to take up space in conversations where important decisions are being made.
Most importantly, don't lose the creativity and passion that drew you to the industry in the first place. The magic happens when you learn how to combine that creativity with strategic thinking and the confidence to demonstrate your impact.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in social media today is demonstrating the true business value of organic social to leadership. While measurable results are important, the impact of building trust, brand awareness, and meaningful relationships isn't always immediately reflected in traditional metrics. I believe the greatest opportunity lies in community building—creating loyal audiences who genuinely connect with a brand's mission and look forward to its content. The brands that consistently provide value through education, entertainment, and authentic engagement will be the ones that build lasting relationships and long-term success.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, integrity, authenticity, empathy, and continuous growth are the values that guide me both personally and professionally. I believe in staying true to myself, treating others with respect, and building relationships rooted in trust. As a leader, I value creating an environment where people feel supported, heard, and empowered to grow. I also believe there's always room to learn and become better. Ultimately, success means more to me when it's achieved without compromising my values or losing sight of the positive impact I want to make on others.
