About Heather
Heather Sebastian, PSP, is a seasoned construction and project controls professional currently serving as Schedule Manager at TerraPower, where she contributes to the development of next-generation nuclear energy infrastructure. With nearly 30 years of experience in construction scheduling, project planning, and risk management, she has built a career around bringing structure, clarity, and accountability to complex, high-risk projects. A graduate of the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Civil Engineering, Heather also holds the AACE International Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification.
Throughout her career, Heather has led scheduling efforts for major projects across diverse industries, including nuclear energy, aviation, infrastructure, hospitality, healthcare, and advanced technology. Before joining TerraPower, she held leadership roles with organizations such as Clark Construction Group, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, and Overwatch, managing large-scale programs valued in the billions of dollars. Her expertise includes Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, schedule risk analysis, recovery planning, milestone management, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project delivery.
Beyond her technical expertise, Heather is recognized as a collaborative leader and mentor who believes in the power of teaching and knowledge-sharing. She credits her professional growth to strong mentors who helped her understand leadership, communication, and team dynamics. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to dedication and a passion for teaching others. I believe that the more you teach, the more you learn, and this philosophy has fueled my growth and success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received came from mentors like Pat Martin and Garrett Bird. Pat taught me the importance of understanding and connecting with people, while Garrett showed me the power of creativity and bringing teams together. Their guidance shaped how I lead and collaborate with others.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to hold your own, stay confident, and continue pushing boundaries. Embrace opportunities, break through barriers, and trust in your abilities.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the impact of AI on scheduling and daily processes. AI has the potential to transform how we work by improving efficiency, streamlining operations, and creating new ways to approach everyday tasks.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are truth and honesty. I believe integrity builds trust, strengthens relationships, and guides meaningful decisions.
