Her Interview

Ten minutes with Heidi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would have to say God to start with, because He's the one that gave me the gifts that I have in order to guide others. Without my gifts, I wouldn't be able to do what I do. I also attribute my success to having an absolutely amazing partner and husband that allows me to truly just be who I am and doesn't expect anything else. I know what it's like to have someone expect you to be a person that they have in their head, and my husband just lets me be me. I would also say grit and determination, because so many people who've heard parts of my story ask how I'm able to be the person I am and not be an alcoholic, or a drug addict, or have attempted to commit suicide. I tell them it's because I choose me, i always have and always will. That choice is so important.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stop caring about what everybody thinks about what you're doing. It's not their dream, it's yours. When we learn to stop hiding, that's when the magic happens. This advice applies to both life and business, and it's been transformational for me in stepping into who I really am.

I would also have to say, the first question that really made me pause and realize I was playing small. When you were, or maybe you still are, working for someone else collecting a paycheck, how hard did you work for them while they made money because of your work? If you had an employee working for you doing the work you have been would you fire them? This was truly eye opening and started me looking at all I was doing, or not doing thinking I was so busy. We should be working harder for ourselves than we ever did for anyone else. Working on the money making activities NOT the busy work.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Number one, stay true to who you are, and don't change because the trends are changing. Being trendy isn't the way to be, being you is. Too many people start out wholesome in who they are, and then they go to trainings and get all this information, and they start trying to run their life like the people that train them. But the people are training you how they run their life, so it's not going to work for you because you're not them. You can learn from others, but you can't do everything exactly the same, because it will never work for you. Everyone has their own path to take.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is education. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what industry you're in, there are fakes, and when it comes to psychics, people don't even realize that there are so many different types of psychics out there, or mediums, or clairvoyants. I'm different because I talk to your soul, I don't bring past loved ones forward. So the challenge is learning that you have to educate people as to who you are and what you do, and you have to do it over and over and over again. You never have to stop educating, because there's so many people out there that don't know your story, or don't know what you do, or how you do it.

For opportunities, there are gazillions. It's just a matter of showing up and being authentically who you are, whether it's vendor events, psychic fairs, or just going and talking to people at coffee shops. You can ask on social media to meet women at a coffee shop for conversation. People are so stuck with what's in the box and not looking outside the box and getting creative, and then they wonder why they can't get anywhere. The opportunities are always outside the box.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is number one for me. Being authentic and being true to who you are is essential. Understanding your character is also important, and if you don't like something within it, or something that you're carrying because someone else told you to, learning how to change those things is crucial. Also, working to be better in a few hours than I was before. Growth is key in life. Experiences help you grow faster so get out there and have experiences, just know that both good and bad ones help you grow. Its not all about the good things. These values guide everything I do in both my work and personal life.
