My typical day as the owner of Aura’s Fragrances begins early in the morning with managing the business side of operations. I spend a large part of my mornings answering emails regarding customer requests, vendor applications, event registrations, order inquiries, and follow-ups with customers. I also manage all of my social media platforms, Shopify store, and website updates, including creating new banners, promotions, and discount campaigns to keep the business engaging and current. Most of my mornings are focused on computer-based work and organization.
My afternoons are where creativity truly comes into place. That is the time I dedicate to handcrafting my products and developing new ideas. I personally pour and blend my own fragrances and create all of my candles, wax melts, essential oil blends, body and hair sprays, and car scents. One of my favorite and most exciting products to create is my bath therapy soaks made with Epsom salts, because they combine wellness, relaxation, and creativity all in one experience.
Evenings are often dedicated to packaging customer orders, organizing inventory, and preparing for upcoming vendor markets and events. Running a business requires balancing creativity with consistency, and I’ve been fortunate to build a career that combines both.
My educational background in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing gave me strong exposure to branding, presentations, competitions, networking, and real-world marketing strategies. When I launched Aura’s Fragrances, I applied those same skills directly into growing my business. I marketed heavily through friends, family, community groups, social media platforms, and vendor events. I personally designed my business banners, tent displays, and promotional materials to create a professional and welcoming brand presence.
One of the biggest learning experiences for me was building my website and Shopify platform. At first, it was challenging navigating the technical side of e-commerce, but once my website launched, I immediately began receiving orders. That experience showed me the importance of persistence, adaptability, and believing in the vision behind my brand.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success completely to my boys — my children have been my greatest motivation and inspiration throughout this entire journey. They inspired me to create a better, cleaner, and safer environment, one clean fragrance at a time. I originally began making these products only for my home and my family because my children struggled with eczema, allergies, asthma, and sensitive skin. None of the store-bought candles or fragrances ever worked well for them, and I wanted something natural, honest, and comforting that I could trust in our space.
Once I started creating these products, friends and family who visited my home immediately encouraged me to share them with others. They kept telling me that what I had created was special and that I needed to put myself out there. I decided to participate in my very first vendor market, and to my surprise, I sold out completely — something that is very rare for a first event. That experience gave me the confidence to continue pursuing what had originally started as a personal passion project.
From there, my vision naturally evolved through the people around me. My customers, friends, and supporters continuously encouraged me with new ideas, product requests, and feedback that helped shape Aura’s Fragrances into what it is today. Everything I wanted to create seemed to unfold organically through genuine connections and community support.
I am still growing, still learning, and still evolving every day as a business owner. But my greatest achievement has been staying true to my heart, my honesty, and my purpose in the work that I do. I truly believe that God guided me throughout this process and opened doors for me at every step of the journey.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have ever received — and the best advice I can give to others — is consistency. One of the greatest things I’ve learned through attending markets and vendor events is simply the importance of showing up and putting yourself out there. There are days when it’s raining, days when the heat is unbearable no matter how many fans you bring, and days so cold that even multiple layers don’t help. But despite all of that, I still wake up motivated and committed to my business.
I truly believe that motivation and consistency are two of the biggest factors that can take a person far in life and in business. Other than situations where I’m sick or my children genuinely need me, I do not undermine or neglect my business. I continue to show up, continue to create, and continue to push forward even on the days when I may not feel my most confident.
Consistency means doing the work every single day, whether you feel inspired or not. It means believing in your vision enough to keep going even when things are difficult. That mindset has helped me grow Aura’s Fragrances from a passion project into a business that continues to evolve every day. My biggest advice to anyone starting out is simple: stay consistent, trust your process, keep showing up, and you will eventually get where you are meant to be.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
When I was preparing to start my business journey, I met an incredible woman named Dimitra, who was successfully building her career through her platform, Dimitra’s Dishes. She is also a family friend, and during one of our conversations, I shared all of the ideas and dreams I had for my business. The advice she gave me stayed with me ever since: “Start before you feel fully ready.”
That advice truly changed my mindset. I realized there is never going to be a perfect time to begin something meaningful. If I had waited until I felt completely prepared, I probably would have never started at all. Ever since launching my business, I’ve continued to approach opportunities with that same mentality — taking the leap first and trusting that the rest will come with time, learning, and experience.
So one of the biggest lessons I would share with anyone is this: if you feel passionate about starting something, just begin. Don’t wait for perfection. Don’t wait for the “right” moment. Start where you are, learn along the way, and allow yourself to grow through the process.
The second lesson that has carried me throughout my business journey is the importance of honesty and authenticity. One thing I can proudly say about Aura’s Fragrances is that I have always remained genuine in everything I create and share. I truly believe people can feel when something is real, heartfelt, and created with integrity. Honesty, authenticity, and staying true to your values can take you much farther than trying to fit into trends or expectations.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I currently face as a business owner is creating more stability in the online side of my business while also continuing to expand my product lines. The world of fragrances and self-care is constantly growing, and there are so many possibilities beyond candles and scents alone. I am always trying to learn what the next best thing could be for Aura’s Fragrances and how I can continue offering products that genuinely help and excite people.
I truly love what I do, and each of my product lines has developed its own loyal customer base. Many of my customers repeatedly come back because they trust the quality and care behind my products. At the same time, I often receive requests for additional items such as laundry boosters, skincare products, and other self-care essentials. One of my biggest challenges is finding enough time in the day to research, develop, test, and properly launch those new ideas while still maintaining the current demands of the business. I genuinely want every customer to leave feeling fulfilled and cared for, and I never want someone to walk away empty-handed when they are excited about something I could potentially create.
The biggest opportunity I see for my business moving forward would be expanding into larger-scale events and wholesale opportunities. I have already had customers purchase my products for weddings, parties, gift favors, and special events, and I would love to continue growing more in that direction. Building wholesale relationships and creating products for larger gatherings and celebrations is one of my long-term goals.
Working throughout the Houston vendor market community has already given me incredible exposure and allowed me to connect with so many wonderful people who appreciate what I create. In the future, I would love the opportunity to participate in much larger events where I can reach even more people who value clean, handcrafted, and honest self-care products.
More than anything, I wish I could teach people what I’ve learned throughout this journey. I would love to show others how these products are made and inspire them to create their own safe and comforting spaces at home. My dream is not only to sell products, but to encourage people to reconnect with cleaner living, creativity, and intentional self-care in their everyday lives.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me in both my business and my personal life are structure, transparency, honesty, and consistency. I believe in truly standing behind what I create and openly showing my customers exactly what goes into my products. Many times, I am actually making products right in front of customers while speaking to them at markets and vendor events, because I want them to feel comfortable and confident in what they are purchasing. There are no hidden shortcuts or misleading claims — everything I create is made with care, clean ingredients, and honest intentions.
Transparency is especially important to me because I originally created these products for my own home and family. I understand how important trust is when people are bringing fragrances and self-care products into their homes, around their children, and into their personal routines. That is why honesty and authenticity continue to remain at the center of everything I do with Aura’s Fragrances.
Balancing every part of my life has definitely been a learning experience. I have always been someone whose heart wants to do everything wholeheartedly. Alongside building my business, I am also passionate about homesteading, raising my two boys consciously and intentionally, creating a healthy and natural environment for them, supporting their school and health needs, and taking care of my household responsibilities.
I would not necessarily call it a challenge anymore, because over time I have learned how to create balance between all of those roles. It has taken patience, growth, and a lot of self-discipline, but I have finally found a rhythm that allows me to nurture both my family and my business at the same time. In many ways, they all connect back to the same purpose — creating a life centered around wellness, honesty, care, and intention.
Milestone Moments
One of the most meaningful parts of building Aura’s Fragrances has been watching an idea rooted in comfort, transparency, and family slowly grow into something real. From hand-pouring products at home to setting up community markets and connecting with customers face-to-face, every step of this journey has been a milestone I carry with gratitude.
