The adventure was not becoming someone new. It was finally having the courage to fully become the woman I had always been.

Her Story

About J

J Franco, MBA, MCM, is a Houston-based marketing strategist, entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of Franco Innovative Media & Marketing, a social media and content marketing agency helping service-based businesses turn expertise into authority, trust, and measurable business growth.

With more than 15 years of experience across marketing, sales, communications, and entrepreneurship, J brings a business-first perspective to digital marketing. She understands what it means to build, sell, lead, and grow because she spent years doing exactly that before ever running an agency.

Before FIMM, J worked across healthcare, fitness, insurance, beauty, sales, communications, and entrepreneurship. She managed fitness centers, sold life and health insurance, built service-based businesses of her own, and later served in leadership roles including Brand Communications Manager at Intervene K-12 and Senior Sales and Artistry Executive at Stila Cosmetics, where she managed domestic and international sales territories, developed partnerships, and supported revenue growth.

Those experiences shaped the way she built FIMM.

Rather than treating social media as a collection of posts, J focuses on creating strategic content tied to real business objectives. Her agency develops social media strategy, content marketing, branding, video marketing, digital campaigns, and communications for professional service businesses across industries including law, finance, insurance, healthcare, wellness, consulting, and nonprofit organizations.

FIMM has partnered with more than 40 businesses, and J’s strategic work has contributed to significant client outcomes, including helping a professional services firm secure a $1.2 million contract through an integrated social media and website strategy.

Her approach is grounded in a simple philosophy. Every post has a job.

J is known for developing proprietary marketing systems and frameworks that help business owners understand not only what to post, but why the content matters, who it is for, and what business action it should support.

Her work has earned national and industry recognition, including two Stevie Awards for Social Media Manager of the Year, recognition as a 2021 Top 100 Global Influencer in Marketing and Advertising, multiple Houston marketing honors, and being named the 2026 American Business Woman of the Year by the American Business Women’s Association. J holds an MBA in Marketing and a Master of Communication Management from the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Outside of FIMM, J is deeply involved in leadership, mentorship, and community development. She has served as president of the Cy-Fair Express Network of the American Business Women’s Association, mentors women entrepreneurs, supports NAWBO Houston, and serves the Cy-Fair Houston business community through leadership and business development initiatives. She has also helped create professional education opportunities through Social Media Day Houston.

Her leadership extends beyond business growth. J is passionate about creating opportunities for women to strengthen their skills, grow sustainable businesses, step into leadership, and build greater economic stability for themselves and their families.

Guided by her Christian faith, she leads with integrity, service, accountability, and a commitment to helping people grow.

For J, success is not only about what she builds.

It is about who gets to grow because she built it.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with J

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith in Christ, without hesitation. Before the degrees, awards, agency, or opportunities, there was God. Keeping Him at the center of my life and business has shaped how I make decisions, how I lead people, and how I define success. There have been seasons when I could not see the entire path ahead, but I learned that I did not need to. I needed enough faith to take the next step, enough discipline to do the work, and enough humility to remember that every room I enter and every opportunity I receive comes with a responsibility to serve well.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to stop discounting myself.

For a long time, I let other people decide what I was qualified for, what rooms I belonged in, and whether I was ready for the opportunity in front of me. I heard no because I did not have agency experience. I questioned whether I was qualified to speak on leadership. I second-guessed opportunities that, looking back, I was more than prepared for.

At some point, I realized I could not keep asking other people to validate what God had already equipped me to do.

That changed the way I approach my career.

Now, when an opportunity stretches me, I do not automatically assume I am unqualified. I ask whether I have the experience, the character, and the willingness to rise to it. Most of the biggest opportunities in my career came before I felt completely ready.

So the advice I carry with me now is simple. Do not discount yourself before the room even has a chance to consider you.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Build the business before the business gets big.

I wish more women were taught systems as early as they are taught branding and social media. Know how leads become clients. Create an onboarding process. Document how you deliver your work. Know your numbers. Build a client experience people want to stay for. Learn how to manage your own time before you are responsible for managing a team.

Do not wait until you have employees, hundreds of clients, or six figures in revenue to start thinking like a CEO. Build the infrastructure for the company you intend to become while it is still small enough to change things quickly.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Marketing is changing faster than most businesses are willing to adapt.

AI is changing how content gets created. Social platforms are changing how audiences consume it. What worked two years ago may not hold attention today. That creates a challenge for marketers who rely on what they already know, but an incredible opportunity for those willing to test, learn, and evolve.

I know what it feels like not to be given a seat at the table. Early in my career, I was told I did not have the agency experience required to work inside an agency. So I built one.

Now my responsibility is bigger than creating my own seat. I am building a table where other women can gain experience, develop valuable skills, contribute their perspectives, and build careers that create economic opportunity for themselves and their families.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, integrity, accountability, service, and creating opportunity for other people.

One of my personal rules is simple. If you break it, you fix it. I believe leadership requires taking responsibility when something goes wrong instead of looking for someone else to blame.

I also believe a successful business should improve more lives than the founder's.

That influences how I build my team, mentor women, serve through organizations like ABWA, and create opportunities for people to develop skills that strengthen their economic future. My commitment to education and decent work also aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 8.

I want the women who work with me, learn from me, or simply cross paths with me to leave with more confidence, stronger skills, greater opportunity, or a door they did not have before.

For me, that is what leadership is supposed to do.
