Her Story
About Jackie
Brain-based coaching is designed to provoke thinking and awareness in ways that help people gain access to beliefs, thoughts, emotions and patterns (habits) that tell a story of how we view ourselves and the outside world. People do best in these types of coaching engagements when they are experiencing issues in their careers or in their personal lives in ways that negatively impact the achievement of goals.
Frequently issues with relationships, job opportunities, managing emotions, behavioral issues (such as aggression or people-pleasing) are the results of hidden beliefs that are driving us to keep re-enacting the same things - keeping us stuck.
Although this is 'therapeutic' I am not a therapist or clinician. However, because I am working with neuroscience, I can say that the coaching can be challenging! So, being ready means being willing to examine those things that are difficult.
Communications and Leadership Training is to help professionals build or enhance and upgrade competencies and skills. They actually go hand-in-hand. The more able people are in their communication skills, which are key to having great people skills (assertiveness, conflict management, Emotional Intelligence, presentation skills, negotiating skills, listening skills, holding difficult conversations, team building, etc..) the better they are prepared to be great leaders.

Ten minutes with Jackie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to trusting and saying yes to the path I was being led on. Before I even leapt into this field I noticed that my boyfriend (now my husband) - a jazz musician - was traveling the world living his passion and his gift. He was my muse because I began to think that I could do the same with my life!
Soon thereafter, I collected my severance and exited advertising forever. I still didn't know what the potential was for this career but I was so inspired and motivated that it was worth the risk of leaving the comforts I knew.
Success usually comes when we say yes to the pull we feel; to that positive, curious charge. I allowed myself to go with it because I I loved what I was learning and how I was growing. And I knew that I was always going to be okay no matter what!
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is that you cannot ever make a mistake along a career path. Every decision, every move, every detour counts towards learning and growing. Even the worst jobs can end up being the best experience! All career choices are part of a path that will lead to the best possible outcomes. The key is witnessing what you experience as having value and using what you've learned to move forward.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To expect that the people you work with are likely to bring out emotions and circumstances that can be emotionally difficult to deal with. Instead of feeling like a victim of a bully or a 'why me' attitude when faced with difficult coworkers, see them as your teachers! They are just showing you what you need to work on. For example, are they bringing out the people pleasure in you? Or the aggressor? Or do you avoid them?
If you're being triggered by someone else, then looking objectively at what is being triggered will help you become more clear on what you need to heal within yourself and help build muscles in changing your own reactions to others.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My field is like a pendulum. We ebb and we flow. So the key to being a freelancer is to prepare for the ebbs.
Another challenge is to be a smart social media marketer but to be very protective of our brands; not to be pitchy or come across in a way that can be misconstrued.
The best referrals are the ones that come word of mouth, and you cannot push people do be your spokespersons. Being out there in a constructive way, as a resource, is the way to keep your name out there and most importantly, being the best at what you do is always the foundation for success.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value honesty, integrity and candor. Of course any coach must gain permission from a coachee to be direct and candid, and when I have that freedom (which is my preference), I will say what people need to hear in ways others won't tell them. With tough-love in my heart and as my intention, I will go there because facilitating real and meaningful change is my responsibility to my clients.
