Ten minutes with Jamayrah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to founding and operating My Life Movement, which helped me develop young leaders while opening doors in my legal career. I am also deeply grateful for the mentors who have guided me, including Palmer J. Richardson, Lashia Bradshaw, Natalia G. Johnson, and Judge Thomas W. Summers. Their continued support, wisdom, and encouragement have played an important role in my professional growth.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the legal profession is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, wisdom, and experience. James 1:2–4 reminds me to count challenges as joy because the testing of our faith produces endurance. Life will present obstacles at every level, but if you persevere through them, you can emerge stronger, wiser, and better equipped for what comes next.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Mentorship, growth, perseverance, and service are among the values that matter most to me. Through my involvement with Blessed and Barred, Rutgers, the Garden State Bar Association, and the Association of Black Women Lawyers, I strive to support and encourage others while sharing the lessons I have gained. I believe challenges can be opportunities for growth, and I carry that mindset into both my professional and personal life.
