About Janelle
Janelle Anderson is a dynamic Business Development Manager at The Otto Firm, where she supports business growth through strategic development, client relationship management, and operational solutions. With a strong background in sales and service, she helps clients navigate business development opportunities while identifying practical strategies that create measurable value. Her people-centered approach combines strong leadership, decision-making, marketing, and relationship-building skills.
Before transitioning into business development, Janelle built a diverse professional background in social services, counseling, and management. She previously served as a Therapist at Sunrise Community Counseling Center and held management roles with Enterprise Holdings. These experiences strengthened her ability to understand client needs, solve complex challenges, mentor others, and develop collaborative solutions across different environments.
Janelle holds a Master of Social Work from Austin Peay State University, where she was actively involved in leadership, student organizations, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and women’s empowerment efforts. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Health/Health Care Administration and Management from the same institution. Beyond her professional work, she has served as a cheerleading coach and community volunteer, using mentorship and encouragement to help young women recognize their potential. Her career reflects a commitment to combining business strategy, service, leadership, and meaningful relationships to help individuals and organizations grow.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, strong relationships, and the willingness to keep moving forward despite challenges. My experiences in sales, psychology, social work, education, and entrepreneurship have taught me to see challenges from different perspectives and find people-centered solutions. My family has also been a constant source of strength and inspiration, while raising four children and pursuing my education taught me that success does not follow a fixed timeline. I believe in embracing every experience, learning from it, and remembering that it is never too late to start over.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received from my father was, “Don’t be afraid to start over.” I learned that starting over is not failure—it can be an opportunity to use what you have learned to choose a better direction. My own journey taught me not to let circumstances or other people’s limitations define what I can accomplish. I carry that lesson into my work by encouraging others to believe in their vision, use available resources, and stay committed to doing the work required to make it a reality.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never let someone else determine the size of your dreams. Know your value, understand your “why,” and don’t be afraid to start over when life takes you in a new direction. Keep learning, surround yourself with people who believe in your potential, and remember that your timeline is your own—every experience can help shape your next chapter.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in my field is helping entrepreneurs turn their ideas into sustainable businesses by providing the knowledge, resources, and infrastructure they need to succeed. Many aspiring business owners struggle with funding, credit, compliance, planning, and knowing where to begin. I see an opportunity to provide personalized guidance that helps entrepreneurs turn their vision into a clear, structured, and actionable plan.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are resilience, integrity, service, family, faith in possibility, and continuous growth. I believe in helping people recognize their potential and providing the tools and encouragement they need to take control of their professional and financial futures. Whether I am mentoring, coaching, or supporting entrepreneurs, I strive to leave people feeling more empowered, confident, and prepared to achieve their goals.
