Janice Greenley is a commercial real estate entrepreneur and utility/energy broker based in Dallas, Texas. She is the co-owner of Green Root Capital, where she focuses on helping busy professionals build passive wealth through commercial real estate investments, particularly in multifamily and storage properties. Alongside her husband, she also operates a utility brokerage business that provides energy and internet connectivity solutions across the United States, with a strong foothold in Texas.
Before transitioning into entrepreneurship, Janice spent over 20 years in the IT recruiting industry, where she rose to become a top-performing recruiter and later held senior roles in talent acquisition and client relationship management. Her experience working closely with professionals navigating career transitions deeply influenced her perspective on financial stability and the importance of creating a “Plan B” beyond traditional employment. During the COVID-19 period, she and her husband launched their utility brokerage, which later expanded into broader investment and real estate ventures.
Today, Janice specializes in utility brokerage, commercial real estate syndications, capital raising, due diligence, and asset management. She is actively involved as a general partner in multifamily real estate deals and emphasizes conservative underwriting, investor accountability, and hands-on operational involvement. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistent hard work, a strong commitment to the people around me, and a deep sense of faith that guides my decisions and sustains me through challenges. I believe God continually provides for me, and I approach my work with the mindset of giving my best while also sharing my knowledge and supporting the growth of others.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to lead with compassion and clarity in order to achieve meaningful results. I’ve also been encouraged to take pride in who I am and the work I do, and to focus on making a positive difference each day through my actions and contributions.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to support one another authentically and to grow with intention. Build genuine relationships, stay grounded in your values, and be deliberate about the skills and experiences you choose to develop along the way.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity in my field right now is helping professionals better understand and access pathways to becoming equity partners in high-performance real estate. There is growing interest in ownership, wealth-building, and long-term equity participation, and I am focused on supporting individuals as they navigate that transition with clarity, strategy, and confidence.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are accountability, stewardship, and integrity. I believe in being fully involved and informed in every aspect of what I do because I have a responsibility to the investors and partners who place their trust in me. I also place a strong emphasis on taking excellent care of the people around me and operating with a deep sense of faith, which guides my decisions and reminds me that I am continually supported and provided for.
