Ten minutes with Jenna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my parents. Without them, I wouldn't have the educational resources to be where I am today in my career. The Emma Bowen Foundation also granted me the opportunity to work temporarily alongside the FOX13 team, giving me an outstanding learning experience. Also, in my Writing for Broadcast News class with Spectrum Bay News 9 Dalia Dangerfield, I gained the skills needed to work in a newsroom. In another class at UTampa, Studio TV I with Jemaine Browne, he gave me the resources to apply as a Radio Producer at Genesis Communications. Lastly, former professor in my Media Writing class Chloe Corwin, connected me with her colleagues at La Gaceta for an internship in 2024.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be transparent about your goals. Never be afraid to speak up.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be your most authentic self! There's never a limit to how much you can network with people. You never know where great opportunities lie.
