Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my willingness to learn from mistakes rather than striving for perfection. Over time, I’ve come to see setbacks and challenges as valuable opportunities for growth, refinement, and deeper self-awareness. This mindset has allowed me to stay adaptable, continuously improve my skills, and remain focused on progress rather than perfection, which has been essential to both my personal development and professional advancement.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be authentic and never dim my light. I’ve learned the importance of showing up as my full self in both professional and personal spaces, while staying grounded in my values and passions. Embracing authenticity has allowed me to build more meaningful relationships, pursue opportunities aligned with my strengths, and contribute in a way that feels both impactful and true to who I am.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to embrace your authenticity, including your femininity and natural strengths, rather than feeling pressured to conform to a traditional or male-dominated workplace mold. Early in your career, it can be tempting to adapt or minimize parts of yourself in order to fit in, but I’ve found that long-term success comes from showing up as your full, genuine self. Your perspective, voice, and way of thinking are valuable assets. When you lead with authenticity, you not only build credibility and confidence, but you also create space for others to do the same.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge and opportunity in my field right now is the rapid rise of artificial intelligence in learning and development. While AI offers powerful tools to enhance efficiency, scale learning experiences, and streamline content creation, it also introduces the risk of overreliance without proper human oversight. In some cases, organizations are adopting AI tools without sufficient strategy or guidance, which can diminish the role of experienced learning professionals and weaken instructional quality. I believe the key opportunity lies in using AI as an enabler rather than a replacement—ensuring that human expertise, leadership, and ethical governance remain central to learning design, strategy, and the overall employee development experience.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my work and personal life are authenticity, passion, and creativity. These values guide how I show up in both professional and personal settings, ensuring that my work remains aligned with who I am and what I genuinely care about. I believe that authenticity builds trust, passion drives meaningful impact, and creativity enables continuous growth, innovation, and the ability to approach challenges with fresh perspective and purpose.
