About Jennifer

Jennifer Selver is a mentor, educator, and international motivator based in the United States, known for her commitment to helping people help people. Her work is centered on empowerment, guidance, and personal development, with a focus on supporting individuals as they navigate life, leadership, and purpose. She is recognized for her ability to encourage growth, build confidence, and inspire meaningful change in the lives of those she serves.

Her journey has been deeply guided by her faith and a lifelong belief in the Lord as her foundation and direction. From a young age, she has felt called to help others, spending much of her life in ministry and walking in what she describes as the leading of the Holy Spirit. Over the years, she has been placed in the lives of many women especially those experiencing brokenness often without knowing at the time the full extent of her impact. Through experience and spiritual growth, she has come to see her role as one of mentorship, encouragement, and restoration, helping women recognize their value, identity, and God-given purpose. Her ministry, Focus Ladies, is dedicated to helping women realign their focus back to God so they can rediscover direction, healing, and purpose, even in seasons of pain or abandonment.

Through Focus Ladies and her broader work, Jennifer supports women in navigating life’s most challenging seasons, including personal struggles, relationships, marriage, parenting, and business development. She comes alongside individuals as a steady source of encouragement, truth, and practical guidance, helping them move through hardship and toward healing and growth. Her mission is rooted in compassion and faith, with a focus on reminding women that they are not alone, they are created with purpose, and they have the ability to thrive through every season of life.

Ten minutes with Jennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

This is definitely a calling from God. I can't get away from it. I cannot. I've tried to run, I've tried to hide, and it comes back, or girls find me. It's wild, really. I cannot get away. So it's even more than inspiration. It's definitely a calling that God put on my life from a young age, and I was really, like, a little, like, who am I, and what, you know, what is the point of this? And I've seen God use it in a great way, to where it's just, I don't know, it's a calling. Can't explain it any other way. I truly believe in the Lord as my guide, and I was really just following the Lord's leading. Since I was a little child, I have always just loved helping people. I've been in ministry world almost my entire life, just being led by the Holy Spirit of God.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I received is to do it for purpose, not just for profit. Make sure that if you're going to put your time and effort into something, you love it. I really believe in calling, that you are called to that mission. And I would say this, too: what you do may not be what someone else does, or someone else would enjoy doing, and that's okay.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be alongside people that have done it well before you. Be willing to sit and listen and be quiet. I think that's one of our biggest challenges right now, is that everybody's an influencer, and they kind of think they know everything. I was there as a young person, but if they can just sit down and be still, and although they may have some of this technology and AI, they may have the handle on those things, we all have our expertise and our experience. They can never replace experience. So, I figured they can just sit down and listen. Be respectful. I think that's what we're also losing, is the respect from the younger generation. Mom, dad, aunt, uncle, this person has already achieved these things through life, and they could just sit down and listen. Be respectful. They learn a lot.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Empathy is a huge challenge right now. People are almost turning into machines and robots ourselves, and we forget that we're still humans. So, a lack of empathy is one of the challenges that I'm navigating. Sometimes it's almost like when I do talk, they can't believe that I actually care, because they're so used to people not caring. I think coming back to reality is one of my missions right now. Everything does not have to be a podcast. Everything does not have to be on YouTube. Everything does not have to be content for the public eye. The real world has its real blessing, its real pain, and bringing it back to reality. I think that's one of our challenges, reality.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I love the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, so that is number one for me, is that I bring Him glory and honor in what I'm doing, and it doesn't look the same all the time, but it's just like, hey, I have a King of Kings that I'm doing this for, so I'm gonna do it with excellence, I'm gonna do it with creativity, I'm gonna do it with passion, because that's what he did. He came and did everything excellent and did everything for the highest already, even if no one's watching. So, definitely, those are my values. And I'm encouraging people to stick with their values, like, you don't have to change who you are. You can be who God wants you to be.
