Ten minutes with Jenny
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to myself, because I love to challenge myself. I've been through a lot, and I've pushed myself to do things that I thought I couldn't do, but I told myself, you can do this. I am proud of who I am, I'm proud of where I am, and I'm proud of all that I have accomplished. I give myself credit, and I also give credit to my parents, who are incredible and always told me, hey, you know what, don't ever let anyone bring you down. You look at them, you smile, and you say thank you, I appreciate that. I'm one of those people who believes that if you walk in with a negative attitude, there's no point in being negative. Life is short. I believe positivity goes a long way, being positive and helping others. It's such a relief, especially for someone like myself who lost all my grandparents in one year in three months and had to deal with so much difficult things in life. I had to step back and say, you know what, you got this. I'm involved in mental health and suicide awareness because I tried to take my own life at one point, but God has a plan, and He knows it wasn't my time.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid. It is a man's industry, it's a man's world, but it changes, and as a woman, be strong, go after your dream. Don't ever let anyone tell you no, you cannot do it. Be a woman, encourage yourself, motivate yourself, and go for it. Don't let anyone stop you.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say the most important values are teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism. I also value growth and development. I think these are the most important things, especially professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration, because you have to have them in the kind of industry we're in. Beyond that, I believe in going the extra mile and going above and beyond, both personally and professionally. I like to challenge myself in everything I do.
