Ten minutes with Jessica
01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For a woman who wants to enter the technology field, I feel like you have to be very confident in what you want, and you have to just not take any bullshit from men and other women. You have to stand your ground. Typically men in the field don't like to listen to women, unfortunately, but you know, just always speak your mind, speak your voice, because at the end of the day, if you know what you know and you're very knowledgeable, they will listen if you speak clearly, directly, and with confidence. It's all about the confidence.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some challenges I face are with the technology - if the technology is not working properly, that can get frustrating. So I help my associates stay calm and not get frustrated at the technology. I also work with a whole different types of people, and sometimes it's really hard to gauge how some people might react, so it's all about adjusting throughout. The biggest challenges are adjusting to people sometimes and how their learning needs are. You know, sometimes people can get super frustrated at something so small, and I help them rein it in and stay calm.
