Her Story

About Jessica

Jessica Dooley, LMFT, lives at the intersection of therapy, compliance consulting, and the delightful chaos of raising four children under eight. She runs her practice remotely—not for convenience, but for intention. Between therapy sessions and consulting work, you’ll likely find her stepping over minecraft pieces, refereeing sibling negotiations, or removing batteries from an overly enthusiastic toy microphone.

Jessica’s philosophy about work is deeply tied to her life outside it. As the mother of four children under eight, she has built a career designed around presence, efficiency, and intentional choices about time. She openly challenges the idea that professional success must come at the cost of exhaustion, advocating instead for systems and careers that support both ambition and humanity.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jessica

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong belief that life fulfillment is designed around the people and time that matter most.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I would say the best career advice I've ever received is to never get too comfortable in one role.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to find an area to specialize in and focus on building expertise in that specialty.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field include early-career financial strain, persistent sexism in parts of the treatment sector, burnout from extensive documentation and high caseloads, and the limitations imposed by insurance. At the same time, there are significant opportunities, such as creating specialized niches, leveraging telehealth and social media to grow a private practice, and using AI to streamline documentation while maintaining clinical accuracy.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are cultivating strong relationships and practicing acceptance in the choices I make.
