Her Story

About Jill

Jill A. Castro, MD, is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician and the founder of Intentional Living Health and Wellness, based in Englewood, Colorado. With over two decades of clinical experience, she brings a distinctive blend of traditional medical expertise and integrative wellness philosophy to her practice. Dr. Castro completed her medical training at UTMB in Galveston, followed by her residency and fellowship at the University of Texas in Houston, building a strong academic and clinical foundation that continues to inform her work today. She is board certified through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. What sets Dr. Castro apart is her commitment to addressing the root causes of health challenges rather than simply managing symptoms. Her areas of focus include inflammation, detoxification, sleep optimization, movement medicine, dry needling, and stem wave therapy — all delivered through a personalized, whole-person framework. She partners with local businesses and community members to cultivate an environment where individuals are empowered to take an active role in their own health journey, integrating physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions of well-being into every aspect of her care. Driven by a deep sense of purpose and a genuine passion for service, Dr. Castro founded Intentional Living Health and Wellness to offer people an alternative to the conventional, reactive model of healthcare. She believes that aging and illness need not define a person's quality of life, and that with the right guidance and support, true vitality is within reach. Outside of her practice, she finds inspiration through her faith in God, enjoying time with her family, exploring music, cooking, and travel — pursuits that reflect the same creativity and intentionality she brings to her work every day.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Jill

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes down to consistency and genuine commitment — showing up every single day with the intention to give thanks each morning, prayer, and stepping out into the world each day seeing the possibilities and opportunities. I make it a priority to stay current with the latest research and emerging developments in my field. Beyond that, I invest deeply in building trust with the people I serve. At the heart of it all is my calling: to help and to serve. Health and Wellness is not transactional, it is relational. My goal is to help others understand and own their health, that they are not defined by it, and their function and full being is far beyond any diagnosis that has been handed to them. That purpose drives everything I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most valuable advice I've received is to trust your instincts when it comes to practicing medicine. Don't default to the standard simply because it's familiar or expected. If the existing system doesn't align with your values or vision, don't be afraid to step outside of it — seek out a better path, or build one yourself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Pursue knowledge relentlessly, but don't allow yourself to be confined by the current corporate mindset or the status quo. Always ask questions — curiosity is one of your greatest assets. Take the time to discover what truly ignites your passion, and don't hesitate to explore different areas before settling on your path. The field is wide open for those willing to think boldly and independently.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Trust and visibility remain the most significant challenges we face. When clients hear about a new approach or therapy, skepticism is often the first response — they wonder whether it's legitimate or simply a trend. The opportunity lies in rising to meet that skepticism with consistency, education, and authentic connection. Continuously nurturing those relationships and showing up reliably is what ultimately builds the credibility this field needs to grow. This takes time, and while often a common answer to a health or wellness question is " I don't know," the better response I offer is " I may not know yet, but I will find out and we will journey together."

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My faith and my family are the foundation of everything. I begin each day with gratitude, which is a practice that grounds and centers me. Intentionality is central to how I live and work — it's even reflected in the name of my practice. I believe deeply in being fully present, and in honoring the whole person — not just what they do, but who they are. We are human beings, not simply human doings, and that distinction shapes my entire approach to care.
