Her Story

About Joselyn

I co-own a successful trucking business which has grown into a self-sustaining operation. My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, providing me with the knowledge and foundation that have helped me build and manage multiple successful businesses.

Giving back remains one of the most important parts of who I am. A portion of my business proceeds is dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing hardships, including those struggling with homelessness and food insecurity. I believe success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities to uplift others.

Today, I share my story through speaking engagements at churches, community organizations, bookstores, and other venues where I can connect with audiences seeking encouragement and inspiration. My goal is to reach people across the country, empowering them to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and understand that no matter what obstacles they face, there is always hope for a brighter future.

The greatest reward for me is hearing from someone whose life has been positively impacted by my story. Knowing that my experiences, businesses, books, and words have helped someone find strength during a difficult time continues to motivate me every day. My mission is simple: to inspire, empower, and remind others that even after life's hardest moments, it is always possible to rise again.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, faith, determination, and a genuine passion for helping others. Throughout my life, I have faced challenges that could have easily caused me to give up, including personal struggles with depression and difficult seasons that tested my confidence and strength. Instead of allowing those experiences to define me, I chose to learn from them and use them as motivation to grow.

I believe success comes from being willing to start where you are, even when resources are limited. I built my business, Lit Scentsational Essentials, from a small investment and grew it through hard work, consistency, and a commitment to quality. As an entrepreneur, author, and business owner, I have learned that success is not about avoiding failure—it's about continuing to move forward despite setbacks.

My children are also a major source of motivation. Being a mother has inspired me to create opportunities, build a legacy, and demonstrate the value of perseverance and hard work. They remind me every day why I continue pushing myself to reach new goals.

Most importantly, I attribute my success to my desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Whether through my businesses, my book The Woman Who Breaks Her Silence, my wellness platform LifeFlow100, or my speaking engagements, my purpose has always been bigger than financial success. Knowing that my story can inspire someone to overcome their own obstacles and believe in themselves is what continues to drive me forward.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received was: "Never let your current circumstances determine your future potential."

There were moments in my life when challenges, setbacks, and personal struggles made it difficult to see what was possible. That advice reminded me that where I started did not have to define where I ended up. Success is not determined by how many times you fall; it is determined by your willingness to get back up, learn, and keep moving forward.

As an entrepreneur, author, and business owner, I have learned that growth happens when you are willing to take risks, remain consistent, and continue working toward your goals even when progress feels slow. Building businesses, writing a book, and pursuing new opportunities all required faith, persistence, and a commitment to long-term success.

I also believe that success is not just about achieving personal goals—it is about creating opportunities for others along the way. The most fulfilling part of my journey has been using my experiences to encourage and inspire people who may be facing obstacles of their own.

That advice continues to guide me today: focus on your vision, stay committed to your purpose, and never allow temporary challenges to limit what you are capable of becoming.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering entrepreneurship and business leadership is to believe in yourself long before anyone else does. There will be moments when people question your abilities, your vision, or your goals, but confidence, persistence, and hard work will take you farther than seeking approval from others.

Do not be afraid to start small. Many successful businesses begin with limited resources and a simple idea. I started my own business with a small investment and a dream, and through dedication, consistency, and a willingness to learn, I was able to grow it into a thriving brand. Success rarely happens overnight, so be patient with the process and trust your journey.

I also encourage young women to invest in their education, continuously develop new skills, and seek mentors who can provide guidance and support. Surround yourself with people who challenge you to grow and who genuinely want to see you succeed.

Most importantly, never allow setbacks, failures, or difficult circumstances to define your future. Every challenge carries a lesson, and every obstacle is an opportunity to become stronger. Your background does not determine your potential. What matters most is your willingness to keep moving forward, even when the path is difficult.

As women, we have the power to lead, innovate, create opportunities, and make a meaningful impact in our communities. Be bold in pursuing your dreams, stay true to your values, and never underestimate the difference you can make—not only in your own life, but in the lives of others.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in entrepreneurship and business ownership today is standing out in an increasingly competitive marketplace. With the growth of e-commerce, social media, and online advertising, businesses must constantly innovate, build strong brands, and create meaningful connections with customers. Consumers have more choices than ever before, which means trust, authenticity, and exceptional customer experiences are critical for long-term success.

At the same time, I believe this environment presents tremendous opportunities. Technology has made it possible for entrepreneurs to reach customers across the country—and even around the world—from virtually anywhere. Small businesses now have access to tools, platforms, and resources that were once only available to large corporations. This creates opportunities for individuals with creativity, determination, and a strong vision to build successful brands and businesses.

Another significant opportunity is the growing demand for businesses that operate with purpose. Customers increasingly want to support companies that make a positive impact, give back to their communities, and stand for something beyond profit. As a business owner, author, and speaker, I have found that people connect with authenticity and genuine stories of perseverance and growth.

For women in particular, there are more opportunities than ever to lead, innovate, and build successful companies across a wide range of industries. While challenges certainly exist, I believe we are living in a time when passion, resilience, and the willingness to adapt can create extraordinary opportunities for success.

My approach has always been to view challenges as opportunities for growth. Every obstacle I've faced—whether in business or in life—has taught me valuable lessons that have helped me become a stronger leader, entrepreneur, and advocate for others. I believe the future belongs to those who are willing to embrace change, continue learning, and remain committed to making a positive impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are faith, integrity, compassion, resilience, and service to others.

Faith has been my foundation throughout every season of my life. During difficult times, including personal struggles and moments of uncertainty, my faith gave me the strength to keep moving forward and trust that challenges can become opportunities for growth.

Integrity is equally important to me. I believe that success means very little if it is not built on honesty, accountability, and doing the right thing—even when no one is watching. Whether I am leading a business, writing a book, or speaking to an audience, I strive to remain authentic and true to my values.

Compassion is at the heart of everything I do. My experiences have taught me that everyone is fighting battles we may not see, which is why I believe in treating people with kindness, understanding, and respect. Helping others, especially those facing hardships, is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my life.

Resilience is another value that has shaped my journey. Life will inevitably bring obstacles, setbacks, and disappointments, but I believe our character is defined by how we respond to those challenges. Every achievement in my life—from becoming a published author to building successful businesses—has been possible because I refused to give up when things became difficult.

Finally, I value service to others. I believe true success is measured not only by what we accomplish for ourselves, but by the positive impact we have on the lives of others. Whether through my businesses, my book The Woman Who Breaks Her Silence, my wellness platform LifeFlow100, or my community outreach efforts, my goal has always been to inspire, encourage, and uplift people who need hope and support.

At the end of the day, I want to be remembered not just for what I achieved, but for how many lives I was able to touch, encourage, and help along the way.
