Judi Upshaw
Judith (Judi) Upshaw is a dedicated retail professional with over four years of experience at Dollar General, where she currently serves as a Store Manager Ladder. Known for her leadership and operational skills, Judi has successfully managed payroll administration and driven business development at the store level. Her strong work ethic and people-first mindset have earned her respect both among her team and within her community.
Before entering the retail industry, Judi earned her Associate’s degree in Medical Office Management/Administration from Fortis College in Mobile, Alabama, and became a certified Medical Assistant. Outside of her professional life, Judi is a proud mother of three, grandmother of two—with another grandchild on the way—and has spent the last 14 years coaching softball. She began coaching her daughters and now proudly coaches her granddaughter, continuing to instill teamwork, discipline, and confidence in young athletes. Judi brings the same commitment to her work as she does to her family and coaching—leading with heart, purpose, and perseverance.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is: don’t stress the little things and always raise your hand—because stepping up and staying calm opens doors and builds confidence.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I’d give to young women entering my industry is: there’s no such thing as a dumb question—always ask, always speak up, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is learning how to effectively delegate tasks, rather than trying to take everything on myself.

Integrity and honesty are the values I hold most important, both in my work and personal life—they guide every decision I make and every relationship I build.
