Her Story
About Karlowba
I am a Contract and Risk Management Specialist at Craft Mechanical, LLC, where I've been working since 2026. I've been a legal expert consultant for over 22 years, having obtained my license in September 2003. My expertise spans criminal law, business law, entertainment law, and family law. I am most proud of serving the community, being instrumental in not only obtaining justice but reuniting families and preserving and protecting business entities. One of my most notable achievements was obtaining a $1.6 million arbitration award in a personal injury case, which was featured in a magazine for top personal injury recoveries. I was also featured in People Magazine in June 2023. During law school, I was recognized as a National Dean's List Scholar. For the past 3 years, I've also been working as a model and motivational speaker. As an African-American woman living with vitiligo for 40 years, I want to inspire and encourage and motivate women to know that different is beautiful. I want people to embrace what they've got and rock it, period, whatever it is. My message is: don't try to fit in when you were meant to stand out.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Karlowba
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being confident. I am not afraid to speak my mind, I'm not afraid to fight for what's right, even if I'm the only one in the room standing on my position. I am confident enough to know that it's okay to be different, because I am different. What has led to my success is my determination, perseverance, and my spiritual background, because you're gonna go through things, there's gonna be adversity, there's gonna be hurdles. My faith has allowed me to persevere through anything. Knowing that delay is not denial has been crucial to my journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say don't be afraid to find someone who's doing what you're doing and latch on to them, get a mentor. It's very important to get a mentor. Try to get internships so that you can get real-life experience in your field. Sometimes, you know, going into law school, people think, okay, well, when I graduate from law school, I'm gonna know how to be a lawyer. No, I didn't learn to be a lawyer until I actually was lawyering. My advice would be definitely get a mentor, definitely stay involved in organizations, and don't be afraid to go out on your own. Don't let them put you in a box. Don't be afraid to hang up your own shingle and pursue everything. Don't be a one-show pony. And don't try to fit in when you were meant to stand out.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are that the job market is changing. As the job market is changing, as AI is becoming more prevalent, being able to maintain your relevance and your value in the industry, I think, is a big thing right now.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In work, work ethic is key. I think that strong work ethic is key in my field. Paying attention to detail, being detail-oriented is key. Honesty, respect, and understanding are true values in all facets of life.
