Katie earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law after completing her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and Political Science at the Mary Washington College (now the University of Mary Washington). With this strong academic foundation, she has spent her career navigating complex legal issues while ensuring her clients feel informed, supported, and empowered in the legal process.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the resilience and adaptability I gained growing up as a Navy brat, combined with the hard work and dedication that carried me from graduating law school in 1989 to starting as a law clerk in 1991 and ultimately becoming the firm owner in 2024.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

While not directly related to my career - get involved in your community. This has been fulfilling and given me many contacts along the way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this male-dominated industry is to be confident in your abilities and never doubt the value you bring to the table.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is effectively managing client expectations while skillfully negotiating with insurance companies to achieve the best possible outcomes.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important value to me, both in my work and personal life, is giving back to the community through meaningful service.
