About Kathy
Kathy Arnos is a veteran media professional, award-winning author, holistic lifestyle coach, and the Founder and President of Whole Planet Productions, bringing more than four decades of experience in publishing, broadcasting, and educational media.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has produced television and radio programs, hosted one of the early internet radio shows before the emergence of podcasts, and has been featured on national television, with media outlets frequently seeking her expertise for interviews and special events.
A pioneer across multiple disciplines, Kathy has consistently embraced innovation to educate, inspire, and empower audiences through media, wellness, and environmental advocacy. Under Kathy's leadership, Whole Planet Productions has developed a range of educational initiatives, including the Whole Children, Whole Planet Expo and Eco Family News (aka Eco Family Living), promoting holistic health, sustainable living, and responsible decision-making.
An accomplished author, she was an early adopter of self-publishing, starting Spirit Dance Publishing and releasing her first two books in paperback in 1994 and 2004, well ahead of the industry's widespread transition to digital media.
Keeping up with the times, in 2024, her third book, Walking A Friend Home: A Practical Guide to Consciously Living & Dying, was published in both print and e-book formats. She recently expanded its reach with the release of an audiobook, which she narrated herself. The title has received two prestigious literary awards, reflecting the impact of her work in personal growth and conscious living.
After stepping away from full-time media work for more than a decade, Kathy is now embracing new opportunities to share the knowledge and perspective gained throughout her remarkable career. Drawing on her extensive experience in media, publishing, holistic wellness, and environmental leadership, she continues to inspire audiences through writing, speaking, coaching, and thought leadership focused on intentional living, meaningful life transitions, and creating a healthier, more sustainable future for individuals, families, and communities.

Ten minutes with Kathy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to several things, including a willingness to stretch beyond my comfort zone, to connect with my heart and trust my intuition, to believe in myself, and to have faith that my work could make a difference. I have found that when we are living our true purpose, the universe often supports us in beautiful ways.
Equally as important is my belief in a power greater than myself … and the unwavering encouragement and support of my daughter and friends, who have shown up and continually inspire me to pursue new opportunities, embrace challenges, and keep moving forward. That combination of self-belief, perseverance, and the generosity of those closest to me has given me the resilience to grow, innovate, and remain committed to my mission throughout my career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
That’s an interesting question ... I have been fortunate to learn from many extraordinary teachers throughout my life. The few things that come to mind are: envision your dream, stay connected and true to your heart and purpose, and trust that whatever unfolds will ultimately be for the highest good.
That advice has served me well through every stage of my personal and professional life, and it continues to inspire me as I embrace new creative ideas and the unlimited possibilities ahead. Throughout my career, I have found that consistent dedication, a strong work ethic, kindness, gratitude, and an unwavering passion for sharing knowledge have spawned beautiful opportunities that led to unexpected, long-term success.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to believe anything is possible. Set goals, stay open and curious, be willing to pivot when needed, and take responsible risks … then let go of the outcome. Oh yeah, and learn how to meditate in whatever form – it will be a true asset, trust me.
You aren’t always going to do things perfectly. We are human, and life can be messy and complicated. Find grace for yourself in those moments. I’ve found that success doesn’t always look like you expect. Let go of those expectations.
I have found that collaborating with others, rather than competing against them, is a winning formula and a real gift. It isn’t about the result of an ego-based idea: it’s about the experiences you encounter along the way and what they can teach you. Stay focused on your vision, embrace new opportunities that challenge you, and never underestimate the power of believing in yourself. If you remain committed, keep moving forward, and trust the process, your hard work will pay off, often in ways you never could have imagined.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve encountered at this stage of my career is navigating the rapidly evolving landscape shaped by social media and artificial intelligence. Keeping pace with this constant change has been overwhelming for a mature woman like myself. New technologies, digital platforms, and shifting audience preferences continue to reshape how we communicate, connect, and do business with one another, requiring adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to embrace new approaches.
Today more than ever, persistence, resilience, and the ability to evolve are essential for long-term sustainability in any field. I’ve had to exercise patience, remain open, stay curious, and figure out how to be visible again and share essential information from a crowded room.
It’s easy to get caught in the compare-and-despair trap with all of the influencers and social media. Don’t … it’s not worth it. It’s all an illusion. My mantra is, ‘Life is simply an aptitude test … and life is in session. Whatever happens is for the highest good. Be strong and bold and stay the course … you’ve got this.’
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Some of my personal guiding principles include finding a healthy balance between work and play and treating everyone with kindness, respect, and integrity. I believe that approaching others with compassion, empathy, and a spirit of equality fosters meaningful relationships, while honesty builds trust and credibility.
For me, life is about living with gratitude, connection, community, and love. It’s important to lead by example from the heart. Be of service to others. The greatest thing we can give someone is our time and attention. We are all in this together, doing the best we can – we might as well enjoy the ride with grace and dignity.
These simple principles demonstrate a values-driven, people-centered approach that has guided me throughout my life and continues to shape the way I lead, serve others, and approach each day.
