Her Story
About Katiana
Katiana Joseph is an author, self-publisher, and entrepreneur specializing in women's fiction. She has been writing since childhood and completed her first novel about 15 years ago. Published in early 2026, the novel is the first installment in an ambitious five-book series that explores themes of resilience, faith, and desire through an authentic portrayal of a woman's experiences.
After deciding to publish her work, Katiana immersed herself in the industry, collaborating with editors to refine her manuscript while preserving her distinctive cultural voice. Her creative vision extends beyond the page. She established an e-commerce platform and expanded into merchandise design, partnering with designers to create wearable items featuring memorable quotes from her work that allow readers to connect with her stories in everyday life.
Katiana's entrepreneurial approach is supported by a strong background in business management and finance, as well as a 20-year career in the nonprofit sector. As an entitlement specialist, she managed public benefits programs for agencies and the individuals they served. A multilingual professional, she speaks Haitian Creole as her first language and English as her third, bringing a unique perspective to both her writing and business endeavors.
At the heart of Katiana's work is her faith. She attributes her ability to manage multiple roles and projects to God, who provides the guidance, intuition, and resources needed to bring each one to completion. Through her writing, business ventures, and service to others, she remains committed to moving forward with purpose, one step at a time.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Katiana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God. Every book I've written, every opportunity I've received, and every step I've taken in building my business has been possible because of His guidance. He provides the resources, relationships, and direction I need, often before I realize I need them. Most importantly, He paces my journey. Rather than allowing me to rush ahead, He teaches me to focus on one step at a time, which has enabled me to complete projects that once seemed impossible.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received was to always do the right thing, especially when no one is watching, and to remain prepared even when there is no opportunity in sight. Success often comes to those who are ready when the opportunity arrives. I have carried that lesson throughout my life by preparing consistently and trusting God with the timing. Every day, I strive to be ready for whatever He wants to do in my life, knowing that preparation and faith often work hand in hand. That approach has helped me navigate both my writing career and my entrepreneurial journey.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be prepared to be patient in your journey and focus on building one step at a time. Don't wait for what you think is the perfect time to start on your project, but don't rush the process either. Lean into your intuition. If you have an idea that is actionable now, pursue it, even if it's not perfect. Believe me, you will improve your craft through experience. Be open to learning from others, and be willing to keep growing even when results come slowly.
I would also encourage women to remain authentic in their work. There will always be pressure to write what is popular or what others expect, but I have learned that your unique voice and experiences are often your greatest strengths. They are what set you apart and make room for you. Don't lose them in pursuit of trends.
Most importantly, stay prepared. Opportunities often arrive before we feel ready for them. The work you do behind the scenes today can open doors tomorrow. Continue developing your skills, do the best you can with what you have, and trust God with the timing. If He has called you to a particular path, preparation and perseverance will help you walk through the doors He opens.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in publishing and writing today is saturation. The romance genre, in particular, is extremely competitive because so many stories revolve around love, relationships, and heartbreak. At times, it can feel as though everything has already been written.
At the same time, I believe that challenge is also the greatest opportunity. Because we know what already exists, we have the freedom to create something different. That's why it is important for writers to follow their own gifts and calling instead of trying to imitate what is popular.
The genres may be the same, but no one can tell a story exactly the way you can. Your experiences, perspective, faith, culture, and voice will shape your work in a way that is uniquely yours. When writers lean into that authenticity, they bring something fresh to the industry, even when they are writing about familiar themes.
For me, the opportunity lies in creating stories that are true to my voice rather than chasing trends. Trends come and go, but authenticity has a lasting impact on readers.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My personal and professional lives are anchored by five core values: faith, integrity, stewardship, authenticity, and perseverance. Faith is my ultimate compass, guiding both my creative work and business decisions. I recognize that every talent, resource, and opportunity I have is a gift from God, and I am deeply committed to stewarding them with care and responsibility.
Integrity means doing what is right, even when no one is watching, because our private choices often shape our public opportunities. In everything I create, whether it is writing a novel, producing content, or building a business, I strive to be authentic. I believe our greatest strength lies in our unique voices and lived experiences, rather than in conforming to the expectations of others.
Finally, perseverance sustains me through the long journey of writing, publishing, and entrepreneurship. I accept that meaningful accomplishments rarely happen overnight. They require patience, consistency, and a willingness to keep moving forward despite challenges. By trusting God's timing and remaining faithful to the work He has placed before me, I encourage myself to continue to move forward with purpose, one day at a time.
