Katie Yandell
I’m a UX Designer and the founder of KTY Design, where I help nonprofits and small businesses create digital experiences that truly connect with the people they serve. I specialize in translating complex ideas into clear, intuitive designs—whether that’s improving a website, increasing engagement, or making services more accessible. What I bring is a thoughtful, strategic approach grounded in user research, paired with practical design solutions that work within real-world constraints like time and budget. I love this work because I get to support organizations doing meaningful things—helping them amplify their impact through better design. I’m especially interested in partnering with mission-driven teams who want to grow, reach more people, and create experiences that feel both purposeful and easy to use.

What do you attribute your success to?
Resilience, consistency, and the willingness to keep going—even when the path isn’t clear. I didn’t start with a roadmap, so I had to build one. Staying grounded in purpose and continuing to grow, even in uncertainty, has made all the difference.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
You don’t have to follow a traditional path to create something meaningful. That gave me the freedom to trust my journey and focus on building something aligned with who I am.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t let where you started make you question where you’re going. Your background is not a limitation—it’s perspective. Stay curious, take action, and trust that you can create something of your own.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Technology is evolving quickly, and that brings both complexity and opportunity. The real need is for designers who can keep people at the center of that change—who can bring clarity, intention, and humanity into the process.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Intentionality, resilience, and spirituality. Those values have shaped every step of my journey and continue to guide how I show up, build, and move forward.
