In 2024, Kelly published her first book following a traumatic brain injury sustained in a workplace incident involving a student. The book reflects her life journey from childhood through personal challenges, including struggles with faith, family, health, and raising children with special needs. She has shared that the writing process was deeply influenced by her faith, including time spent listening to Scripture during recovery and feeling inspired to document her story. Alongside her professional and writing career, she holds an associate’s degree and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, balancing her academic and professional responsibilities through faith, family, and perseverance.

Ten minutes with Kelly
01What do you attribute your success to?
First and foremost, I attribute my success to my faith in God, which has guided and grounded me throughout my journey. I am also deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my family, especially my husband, as well as my parents, who advocated for me and stood up for me during my childhood. The teachers at Master’s Academy between 4th and 7th grade played a pivotal role in my life, believing in me, nurturing my growth, and helping me heal and rebuild confidence during a difficult time. I also credit the many friends who have consistently stood by me and encouraged me along the way, each contributing in meaningful ways to the person I am today.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to trust God and not force outcomes, knowing that He will guide each step of the journey. It is important to be patient with the process, remain open to growth, and not be discouraged by challenges along the way. I would also encourage seeking support and mentorship within the community, especially among self-published authors and peers who understand the path. Most importantly, take things one step at a time, stay consistent, and never give up on your purpose and goals.
