Ten minutes with Keri

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my son, who inspired me to pursue education and build a better future after becoming a parent. His encouragement motivated me to move beyond minimum-wage jobs, invest in my education, and create greater opportunities for myself and my family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that even if I don’t end up on the path I originally expected, as long as I continue working toward a goal and doing something positive, I can’t truly go wrong. Every experience provides an opportunity to learn, grow, and move forward.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to take each day as it comes while continuing to work toward their goals. I believe that staying focused, being honest, and being dependable are essential qualities that will help build trust, create opportunities, and support long-term success in both your professional and personal life.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is re-entering the healthcare industry at a higher level while navigating strong competition for advanced positions. At the same time, I see an opportunity to strengthen my career prospects by learning how to optimize my résumé and leverage AI tools effectively to better showcase my experience and qualifications.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are social justice, health equity, and ensuring access to quality healthcare for vulnerable populations. I also place a strong emphasis on honesty and dependability, as I believe these qualities are essential to building trust, serving others effectively, and maintaining meaningful relationships.
