About Keyla

Keyla Martínez Díaz is a Puerto Rican author, entrepreneur, and business professional with Dominican roots whose career reflects leadership, resilience, and a commitment to creating meaningful impact. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Advertising from the University of Puerto Rico and began her professional journey coordinating blood drives for the American Red Cross across Puerto Rico, an experience that strengthened her ability to lead, connect communities, and turn purpose into action. She later built nearly a decade of experience in the financial industry with organizations including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of New York. Today, Keyla is expanding her impact beyond the corporate world as the author of Gracias por los Regalos, Mamá, a book written in honor of her late mother that explores legacy, connection, and the invaluable lessons mothers leave behind, and as the founder of Keep the Pix, a Central Florida photo booth and party rental business. Her journey is defined by an ability to transform ideas, challenges, and personal experiences into purposeful action—building a career, a body of work, and businesses that connect people and create lasting value.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Keyla

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, adaptability, and the courage to keep moving forward, especially when the path has required me to begin again. I have learned that success is not defined by a straight line, but by what you do when life challenges you to change direction. I choose to learn, evolve, and turn those moments into opportunities for growth. I remain open to feedback, value the perspectives of others, and believe that empathy is one of the greatest strengths a leader can have. Above all, I have learned to trust my ability to build again, dream bigger, and create new possibilities—not only for myself, but for the people I can positively impact along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to pursue work that genuinely inspires you. Passion gives purpose to what you do, but growth comes from continuously challenging yourself, remaining curious, and being willing to evolve. I’ve learned that the most fulfilling career is not necessarily defined by a title or a position, but by doing work that aligns with who you are, challenges you to become better, and allows you to make a meaningful contribution. When you combine passion with purpose, discipline, and the courage to keep growing, work becomes more than a career—it becomes part of the legacy you are building.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in your ability before you have all the answers. You don’t need to know everything to take the first step—you need the confidence to begin and the humility to keep learning. Ask questions, seek mentors, build meaningful relationships, and never be afraid to take up space in rooms where your voice deserves to be heard. Be open to opportunities that challenge you, and don’t allow fear of failure to make your decisions for you. Most importantly, support other women as you rise. Success becomes far more meaningful when you use what you’ve learned to open doors, create opportunities, and remind another woman that she belongs in the room too.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities today is the ability to reinvent how we work, lead, and create value. Technology is changing industries rapidly, but I believe the human element remains irreplaceable. The challenge is learning how to embrace innovation without losing authenticity, empathy, and genuine connection. For professionals and entrepreneurs, this creates an opportunity to continuously evolve, learn new skills, and find better ways to serve people. Those who remain adaptable, curious, and willing to grow will not simply respond to change—they will help shape what comes next.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most are integrity, empathy, respect, and the belief that every person deserves to feel seen and valued. I believe character is revealed not only in the decisions we make, but in how we treat people when there is nothing to gain in return. In both my professional and personal life, I strive to listen with intention, remain open to different perspectives, and create spaces where people feel respected and empowered to be themselves. To me, leadership is not about status or being the loudest voice in the room—it is about using your presence to elevate others. At the end of the day, I want my success to be measured not only by what I build or accomplish, but by the way people felt, grew, and believed in themselves because our paths crossed.
