About Khaylah
Khaylah Wade is a supply chain and logistics professional with extensive experience in operations support, supply management, and employee development. A Navy veteran, Khaylah began her logistics career in 2015 as a Logistics Specialist in the U.S. Navy, where she developed a strong foundation in supply operations, leadership, and problem-solving. After transitioning to the civilian sector, she continued to build her expertise through supply chain management at DePaul Hospital and progressively advancing roles at Sunset Transportation, where she currently serves as a Team Lead in Operations Support.
Khaylah earned her bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management from Lindenwood University in 2022 and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Leadership at the same institution. She is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Student Veteran Organization. Her professional strengths include collaborative problem-solving, analytical thinking, decision-making, effective communication, and time management. Khaylah is particularly passionate about process improvement, employee development, and creating clear structures that help teams work effectively and support organizational growth.
Beyond her professional achievements, Khaylah is committed to continuous growth and inspiring others to pursue their goals. Her leadership philosophy has been shaped by her military service and the mentors and leaders who have guided her throughout her career. She places strong importance on integrity, honor, courage, and commitment while encouraging perseverance, accountability, and positive workplace habits. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the leaders and mentors who have guided and supported me throughout my career. Their experience, encouragement, and example have shaped my growth and helped me become the professional I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to advocate for myself, speak up about opportunities, and confidently share ideas for improving processes in the workplace.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to never dismiss your ambition and, most importantly, never give up on yourself. Believe in your abilities, pursue your goals with confidence, and remain persistent even when challenges arise.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My field currently faces challenges organizational politics, particularly within the traditionally male-dominated supply chain industry. At the same time, these challenges create opportunities for women to bring new perspectives, demonstrate leadership, and help drive positive change.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, honor, courage, and commitment. These principles guide how I make decisions, treat others, and approach challenges.

Over the years, my professional philosophy has been that leadership isn't about having the highest title. Leaders are developed by taking ownership and by our ability to train others. Process improvements foster the removal of ambiguity, as well as complacency, within an organization. Let's be honest with ourselves here: automation is taking over the workplace. While technology provides solutions to a firm's biggest challenges, I believe it is human error that is worth investing in. What I mean is, the human element within supply deserves the most attention!
As a Navy veteran, I experienced the manpower that goes into mooring a ship to a pier, conducting underway replenishment, and managing inventory operations. Today, I work within the civilian sector of supply and continue to see the significance of communication, accountability, and human performance. My experience in both fields has shown me that regardless of how advanced technology becomes, successful operations ultimately depend on the people using it. My background in training, leadership, process improvement, and employee performance has reinforced my belief that investing in people is just as important as any investment in technology. When employees are properly trained, supported, and given the tools to succeed, organizations are better positioned to work alongside technology rather than simply setting the timer and waiting for the end result.
I have advanced in my professional identity from Petty Officer Wade to Khaylah Wade, Team Lead for Operations Support. It's the effort behind the title that deserves the recognition here. Our professional identities are defined by how we approach problems, people, and the work we complete daily. I've discovered that I enjoy understanding why processes work or don't work, and I naturally look for ways to improve things. For now, I'm continuing to look for ways to intersect people, processes, and, of course, technology.
