Kim Williams
Kim Williams, BSCJ, MPS, is a seasoned law enforcement professional currently serving as Lieutenant Colonel of Investigations at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. With over 15 years of progressive experience in public safety and corrections, she has held a range of leadership roles, including Major at the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections and Uniform Patrol Lieutenant with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. Kim brings a wealth of expertise in criminal justice administration, investigations, and youth services, combining strategic oversight with hands-on operational experience.
An accomplished scholar, Kim holds a Master’s degree in Crisis, Emergency, and Disaster Management from Tulane University School of Professional Advancement and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Southern University and A&M College. She is a graduate of the LSU Basic Police Academy and has earned several professional certifications, including the FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute and Leadership Baton Rouge Alumni. Her educational background complements her commitment to leadership, professional development, and the advancement of public safety practices.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Kim is passionate about family, fitness, and travel. She also contributes to the next generation of criminal justice professionals as an adjunct professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Whether leading complex investigations, mentoring emerging leaders, or engaging in community outreach, Kim is dedicated to service, integrity, and fostering positive change in both her field and community.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the values my parents instilled in me. From a young age, they emphasized the importance of education and taught me that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. Their guidance reinforced a mindset of determination and accountability—there are no excuses when it comes to pursuing your goals.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to be persistent and dedicated. The path can be challenging at times, but the rewards—both personally and professionally—are well worth the effort. Staying committed and resilient will help you navigate obstacles and achieve your goals.
