Her Story
About Kimberly
Kimberly Huff Johnson is a Christian devotional author, speaker, and women’s ministry leader whose work is rooted in faith, family, and storytelling. Originally from North Carolina and now residing in Virginia for over 25 years, she grew up surrounded by regional idioms and a strong sense of community. These early influences, combined with her deep Christian faith, later became the foundation for her writing and teaching ministry.
Kim began her professional journey studying interior design and working as a design consultant before stepping away from her career to raise her growing family. As a devoted wife, mother of four, sister, friend, and grandmother, she embraced the role of stay-at-home mom while supporting her husband’s career advancement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she began reflecting on the idioms she often used—prompted by her children’s curiosity—which led her to research their meanings and connect them to Scripture and personal faith experiences.
This creative reflection evolved into her self-published “Bloomin’ with Jesus” devotional series, which includes Bloomin’ with Jesus, Keep Blooming with Jesus, and Forever Blooming with Jesus, with additional works in progress. She also serves as a women’s ministry leader in her local church and speaks at women’s conferences, including “Her Story, His Glory.” Through her writing and speaking, Kimberly encourages others to see God’s presence in everyday language and life experiences, helping readers grow in faith and spiritual understanding.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having godly mentors who invested time in teaching me, as well as my willingness to remain teachable and learn from them. Our discussions also emphasized the importance of balancing pride in one’s work with humility—recognizing the natural desire for recognition, while intentionally choosing to focus on serving others rather than seeking personal glory.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that I don’t have to know everything, but I do need to be willing to learn.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry not to be afraid to begin writing, even if they do not yet have formal credentials or feel fully prepared. I believe that if you are called to write, you can trust that God will equip you along the way, providing the growth, skills, and opportunities needed as you step forward in faith and willingness.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is navigating the publishing world, particularly understanding its processes, expectations, and pathways to getting work recognized and published effectively.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values in my work and personal life are maintaining a strong work ethic, being open to constructive criticism as a means for growth, and consistently practicing humility in all that I do.
