Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my ambition, determination, and the values instilled in me by my late grandmother, who was my greatest inspiration. Growing up in a family that did not always have all the answers taught me to pursue my dreams, believe in what I stand for, and find my own path. My grandmother taught me the importance of a strong work ethic and compassion, and those values continue to shape my leadership style and the way I treat others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to always treat people as human beings rather than reducing them to numbers. This principle reminds me to approach every interaction with empathy, respect, and understanding. Whether I am supporting patients, leading employees, serving clients, or working within the nonprofit sector, I believe people deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women is to never stop believing in yourselves. Show up authentically in every room you enter, trust your abilities, and give yourselves the time and space to learn. Growth does not happen overnight, and it is important to remain open to new experiences and opportunities. Stay true to who you are, continue developing your skills, and have confidence in the value you bring to your profession.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest questions I am navigating right now is identifying what the next opportunity will be for me as I continue balancing business ownership with my involvement in the nonprofit sector. I am reflecting on the direction I want to take professionally, exploring new possibilities, and considering how I can continue growing while making a meaningful difference. I see this stage as an opportunity to evaluate my goals, build on my experience, and determine where I can contribute most effectively in the future.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family always comes first for me. I place a high value on respect and integrity, and I believe in showing up for people when they need support. Whether in my personal relationships, healthcare leadership, nonprofit work, or business, I strive to treat others with compassion and humanity. I believe that being dependable, respecting others, and offering support during difficult times are essential to building meaningful relationships and making a positive impact. I've had some amazing people within my connections that have helped me grow in different aspects of leadership and in my personal life. I want to be sure that those who have helped along my journey know how much it has meant to have them believe in me. My children, my siblings, my life sisters, and my amazing partner.
